Questions about window motor and regulator

Hi everyone. So my passenger side window stopped working so I did a fair amount of searching through the forum and I believe it's the common bad window motor. I came across a thread where somebody said that even if the motor is bad the window would still go down/up when the door is open/close. My question is that could it be a window regulator problem as well since my window doesn't go down/up when I open/close the door. Thanks for your time.

If motor bad, window never goes up or down.

Search the forum, there are threads on how to fix those motors. It's not that hard
Sometimes all that you need is a clean and possibly new brushes. Quick fix that will save you $100.

Thank you for clearing it up. I already tried cleaning it and still no response so I guess I would need a new motor.

Yes, it could be the regulator. Im going through the same problem with my passenger side window also. The only way to be sure is to get in there. I just order me a new regulator Tuesday so I feel your pain.

So you got a new regulator instead of a new motor?

Do you know the signs for a bad regulator? I looked around and couldn't help anything helpful.

It closes normal, but when I roll it down it makes some kind of clunking sound. The window did come alive for a day or two then died again. That's why I'm leaning more toward a bad motor.

Either or man but a bad motor shouldn't make a clunking sound you really will have to get in there and check things out.

Same problem

My driver side window doesn't go up all the way not sure how to fix it. I think it's a motor problem. Any way to do it yourself? My dad told me that the way it is set up to have to take it to a shop? Any advice? I currently am overseas in Okinawa Japan and am looking to get my car fixed before I sell it and that is one of the few problems with the vehicle. The car is in CT. Maybe someone from here can fix it or assist in fixing it for a decent price? I won't be back in America until aug 2015. Thanks
