2006 g35 revup p0024 code
Highly unlikely. Next thing I would do is swap the cam sensor with the same sensor on the opposite bank if you haven't already. This would rule out the cam sensor.
If it's the outside ambient sensor located behind the grill you can pick one up from a local pick-n-pull, it's used on a LOT of nissan/infiniti vehicles throughout the 2000+ era.

Yeah it's uncommon for the cam sprocket to break but yes it does happen, I'll dig up a picture so you can see what to look for, they almost always crack in the same fashion.
Try to get a used one, they are insanely expensive for new.
Ok here's a link for someone with a cracked sprocket on the HR engine, it's basically what happens on the DE engine as well, very uncommon but there have been a few threads over the years about it.

No you can technically reuse the chain, however if you're paying shop labor rate to tear it all apart you should probably just get a timing chain/tensioner kit as well as a water pump since it's all going to be torn apart anyways.
If you do reuse the chain I would definitely replace the primary tensioner since it's the only item that does have a chronically short lifespan.
As for the metal, his sprocket REALLY kaboomed, he had literal chunks of metal that fell down into the pan. It's definitely possible to just fracture off that bolt hole and not leave a bunch of little chunks.
