Its all good. If your budget allows it then there is no sense in driving a car that doesn't fit your needs/wants.

i have to agree with you on the interior. that's why I didn't have a problem taking it apart because it was cheap looking anyways. haha

also the buttons on the center console are pretty cheapy compared to the lexus. when you press the buttons it clicks pretty loud .. When you press the buttons on the 05 g35 and the lexus it's very soft and smooth. No loud clicking noise. a very luxury feel...

My original intentions were to sell my Lexus GS400. Well that didn't happen. I have compiled a short list of adverse remarks with regards to the coupe.

1. Seating position.
a. It felt like my back was laying against wood. Very uncomfortable.
b. Very narrow shoulder and hip room. (maybe because I'm 6' 3"?).

2. Cheap interior feel.
a. I couldn't stand looking at the interior in the daylight. Strangely enough, I was much relieved with the night time look(instrument panel, navigation, etc..). This kept me from looking at the cheap/fake and easily scratchable aluminum panels.

3. Odd body look from different angles.
a. Hard to explain, but whenever I would see a G on the road, I would say to myself thats what I'm driving? The coupe just seemed a little weird from different angles.

And lastly, even though I'm only 26yrs old, I felt like the coupe is more suited for a someone a little younger(IMO). This is maybe because of the cheap interior feel(which has a big impression). Anyway, I think the culprit was the fast transition from the Lexus GS400 to the coupe. And yes, I do understand the coupe and the GS are in different classes. I just set my expectations way to high(smoothness, ride, overall integrity). Oh and by the way, my coupe was loaded.(6K,navi,18" rims, etc..)

To sum it all up, I recently sold my coupe at a heavy loss and kept my Lexus.

Thanks all, I had a great time on the board.

perhaps a TEST DRIVE would have saved you a lot of time & money.

I tend to agree .. uncomfortable seats, can't stand interior, weird look at different angles ... were you blind when you were buying it?
what factors in the first place made you chose this car?

I totally agree with you about the interior. It's really bad compared to an Audi and BMW. I'm really thinking about selling my G in the next couple months and getting an M3.

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
Actually thought about selling my 2004 6mt...but I know I'll lose money...only had it for a year and it's very costly with our high gas prices of $2.35-$2.75 in SF.
New rear tires at 19K $550.00, Registration = $289.00 Insurance $781.00 one year, 15K service and new front brakes was another $500.00+...GEEESH and oh yah payment $616.00 all in the month of March...!

Would you get rid of your G to get yourself a new home? I'm going to be 32 this year and it's time I seriously look into that...That amount of money I spend on my G each month would be 1/2 mortage...!

Who would sell their ride for a house? I know of one person who has so far...!

Agreed. One test drive, hell just even sitting in the car, and he would have made up his mind regarding the cheap feeling interior in his opinion. Are people that apathetic nowadays where they won't even test drive a car before buying it?

My old man just bought himself a "used" 745 and I've only driven it once...Just doesn't do anything for me...However, I can see where your coming from...My family has a 99 GS300 and the interior and ride comfort is top notch...And thats a 225hp motor, I can def understand your not appreciating the 280hp VQ when you have the 300hp V-8 in the GS...G'luck with your ride, by the way what type of resale did you get on your G?

I would imagine that he DID test drive the car, but you do not necessarily get a fully informed impression of a car from a test drive. When you test drive a car, you have to absorb a lot of information about the car in a brief amount of time. On most test drives the salesperson accompanies you, and just their presence can be distracting - especially when they are talking a lot as they are want to do. I know on the test drives I have done, I didn't feel like I could concentrate on the experience the way I wanted to, and this in large part was due to the talkative salesperson in the car. Now granted, KAZAM's complaints were not really test-drive oriented, but even so I can understand that it wasn't until he got the car home and spent time with it on a day-to-day basis that he fully realized that the drivers seat was uncomfortable and the quality of the interior was not up to par for him. How someone feels about a car has as much to do with what kind of car they are coming from as it does the objective qualities of the car they just bought. This is why I waited and bought an '05 instead of an '04, I already owned a BMW 330xi and I felt if I didn't wait for the upgraded interior of the '05 I would not be as satisfied with the car.

Refer to Prolix comments. That is exactly right. Also, while I was purchasing the G, my GS was in the body shop for quite some time and I relied mostly on beautiful pics of the G coupe via the internet. Anyway, I did test drive the G, and considering I'm the most impatient person I know, I felt like needed to buy it right then. Also, the black on black looked beautiful in the showroom! Oddly enough, most of my negative thoughts were realized after a 200 mile trip.

I recently was in a 05 coupe, and the interior was GREATLY improved(especially the speedometer cluster). the 03-04 speedometer cluster had a similar look to the mid to late 80's Toyota Celica. No? Check it out, if you can find one on the street.

i'm not sure i understand all the bashing over the G's interior... i swapped an '03 audi A4 for my current '05 G coupe and i honestly do not feel any less "luxurious" driving around in the infiniti... sure the audi interior was well executed, refined and comfortable, but to suggest the G (at a much lower price point than an A4 or M3) pales in comparison is selling infiniti's interior workmanship quite a bit short, imo...

as far as exterior, i think the coupe's lines are some of the most elegant/sporty out there; and i get daily unsolicited feedback to suggest the same...

guess it's a good thing i bought one

Well Kazam I guess you have not been in the '05 coupe lately. Its like night and day compared to the '04s interior. They totally changed all the materials in the '05 to real alluminum and no fake looking plastic. You should have waited to buy the '05 I think your opinions would have been drastically different then. The leather seats are of higher quality and did I mention the new ***** and not the loud buttons. Plus the nav is now 7 inches which automatically pops up when you turn the ignition on, that is "Tight to Death". Only problem is reaching for that damn seat belt.

Oh forgot to mention about the exterior, are you freakin' kidding me. Take a look at your Lexus and see all the odd angles it has. The G35 coupe in my opinion has the best lines of any vehicle on the road except when you get to exotics but thats another story. Im sorry but there is no lexus that can compete with the looks of the coupe my friend. "Holla Back"

Benbo5, refer to my recent reply with regards to the 05 interior. I actually love it! Anyway, everything is said and done. My G is gone.

About my Lexus. Yes you are right to a point. But, If you don't have all the right options on the GS(stock spoiler, 17" stock chrome rims, etc...) then the car does look plain and sorta odd from different angles. If I didn't have these options, I would not have given the GS a 2nd look.

Another thing Benbo5, keep in mind, there is no G coupe VS GS400. 2 totally different classes! I just sold the car for the following reasons I originally stated. Please everybody, no comparison!!

Thank you!!

I'll see if I can help you out...

1. Lose weight if your fat and cant sit comforbable in sport seats.

2. no comment, becuase I can't see how an interior can change given the point of day you drive it.

3.Every car looks off from certain angles, I cant think of one car that looks perfect every way you look at it.

One thing I do agree with you on, is the G really suits a younger person, I'm lovin mine every damn day!!
