Sold My 04 Coupe After 2mos. Was Not Impressed!
Before I begin, by no means am I bashing the G35 Coupe. This is just my opinion! Now, back when I was researching the coupe, I originally thought the coupe was one of the best looking cars on the road. This was until I purchased my coupe in Dec. My original intentions were to sell my Lexus GS400. Well that didn't happen. I have compiled a short list of adverse remarks with regards to the coupe.
1. Seating position.
a. It felt like my back was laying against wood. Very uncomfortable.
b. Very narrow shoulder and hip room. (maybe because I'm 6' 3"?).
2. Cheap interior feel.
a. I couldn't stand looking at the interior in the daylight. Strangely enough, I was much relieved with the night time look(instrument panel, navigation, etc..). This kept me from looking at the cheap/fake and easily scratchable aluminum panels. Oh yea, I could've sworn each day I would find a new scratch/scuff mark inside the interior(especially inside of the door by the speaker).
3. Odd body look from different angles.
a. Hard to explain, but whenever I would see a G on the road, I would say to myself thats what I'm driving? The coupe just seemed a little weird from different angles.
And lastly, even though I'm only 26yrs old, I felt like the coupe is more suited for a someone a little younger(IMO). This is maybe because of the cheap interior feel(which has a big impression). Anyway, I think the culprit was the fast transition from the Lexus GS400 to the coupe. And yes, I do understand the coupe and the GS are in different classes. I just set my expectations way to high(smoothness, ride, overall integrity). Oh and by the way, my coupe was loaded.(6K,navi,18" rims, etc..)
To sum it all up, I recently sold my coupe at a heavy loss and kept my Lexus, which is more of a everyday type of car.
Thanks all, I had a great time on the board.

That actually sounds reasonable to me! Some cars are just not for some people? I agree with you in many aspects you mentioned, I have a BMW 330i and it is hard to compare the interiors of the two, the bimmer just walks on the G in that department! What sells me on the G is how fun it is to drive and how good it is on the eyes! Not feeling your mention of the "G at different angles", but I respect the fact that you feel that way? Best of luck on your next car! the GS is a nice car as well, but as you mentioned, very different from the G.
I have a feeling this thread is destined for greatness.
1. If your not comfortable sitting in the car then I guess there isn't much you can do about it.
2. Somewhat subjective, but not surprising considering the car you came from.
3. I agree, there are some angles that aren't very flattering.
4. I totally disagree with this one. Just because there are a lot of younger people on this board doesn't necessarily represent the true majority of G35 owners. In fact, I would say the exact opposite is true and sometimes I feel I am too young (27) for this car and I would be better off in a STi or EVO, cars with a more active enthusiast community. It looks like the Lexus perfectly suits your needs, so enjoy.

Not sure about the lol no comment, I think you have good points in not liking the car, and like all forums, it's your opinion! I sat in and did some driving in an 04 6mt coupe, and I'm also 6'3", and yes I would echo your thoughts of the seat and headroom, but hey it's a coupe right?. About looking "odd", I can see where you are coming from, but it's not as odd as that Lexus SC IMO!!!
8 replies and 9 views, that's a good percentage!!! I love the G, and can't wait to get mine, but guys, it's OK to read some bad about the car too... Be happy, one less G on the road (until some one else buys it)

Wow! This is good. I knew I was going to get some heat on this thread. Anyway, due to my $5K loss, I felt obliged to share my story. Well at least the girl who bought my car is happy. Also, my car is also used to drive my clients around, and I didn't think the G is/was the most ideal vehicle.
Oh yea, and about my comment about being a car for someone younger, I may have overstepped my boundries. I meant I haven't been used to a coupe style with the exhaust, tight steering for quite sometime. And no, I don't even wanna mention the coupe I used to own.
Enjoy!!

Well, here are my 2 cents worth:
1. I love the G coupe's seats. It literally feels like it's hugging me when I get into the car. I'm only 5'10" though, so I guess I can't relate to someone who's 6'3".
2. I don't think the G's interior LOOK cheap. Yes I would like a real aluminum center console and I agree the materials can't match Lexus and the German cars, but I think the interior looks perfectly fine compared to many cars in the same price range. This is after sitting in many cars at a car show. If you want to talk about cheap looking interiors try sitting in a Cadillac CTS.
3. I can kind of see this point. The G does have a few odd angles, but the same can be said about virtually any car. I love the Aston Martin Vanquish, but there are definitely a couple of odd angles (mostly from the rear) on that car. Also, I've always thought the entire GS is kind of odd looking from any angle (I do like the car though!).
4. I actually see the coupe as an older (30+ yr. old) person's car. Sometimes I too feel like I might look more fitting in a Z or Evo or something. But I will be 30 in a couple of months.
