Gas issue please help
Hi everybody summing up real quick I have a 05 g35 coupe, which has a broken gas gaugue. Because of this gas gaugue I ran out of gas a week ago so i put in 1 gallon from a Jerry can and then went to Costco to fill up more. I put in about 13$ of 91which was 4.90 at the time. So reason I only put in 13 is because the gas nozzle started clicking indicating my gas tank was full I knew that wasn’t true so I kept pumping which caused it to overflow. In disbelief I didn’t question it and just went home. The next day I went to the gas station again it only took 3$ before clicking again. Is my gas tank really full or is there air or something else causing it to think it’s full?
If your gas tank is overflowing then Im pretty sure your tank is full. But if you run out of gas again and your fuel level indication isnt showing empty then your gauge cluster is most likely messed up.(Theres a fix for that!)
Some of these cars did have an issue with the gas tank which would cause the pump nozzle to click before the tank was actually full. My car had this issue too when I first got it. But I kept filling my tank everytime until it would almost overflow, and the issue eventually went away. Now I dont know if that had anything to do with it, but it worked for me.
But it was a common issue back in the days so Nissan actually put out a service bulletin to fix the issue. Here it is attached to my post:

Daamn $20 bucks and it overflowed?? That gas station must have some really good prices lol.
Eh so and so
so yeah that day I have no idea why it overflowed (my guague for gas is broken) so one day my car wouldn’t turn on it would crank but wouldn’t turn on so I went to get gas from a Jerry can put in 1 gallon and it turned on so then I went to the gas station and it overflowed after 20$ I thought I had air in the gas tank somehow which was pushing gas up but that’s a dumb idea. So as of now i just fill until it overflows becaus any time I put the gas nozzle in it clicks so what I learned is hold it half out and press the nozzle half throttle and it works my bad for the yap session

Igot a similar problem on my G35 when i put gas it clicks at 11 gal then overflows , im going to change the vent valve solenoid and the evap canister , i heard that should solve the problem and would let you fill up fully to 20gal originally
The EVAP solenoid won't fix, there's an air purge line at the tank that follows parallel to the fill neck, you can see it all pretty easily from under the car, fill neck is the big tube, air purge is the little one right next to it. Typically the air purge gets clogged up right where it attaches to the gas tank or right at the rubber 90 degree elbow. With the gas tank 1/2 full it's WELL below that level so you can disconnect those lines under the car then blow compressed air into both ends to try to get the crap out, just make sure to take the fuel cap off and be careful, sometimes you can see the debris clogging the hose and fish it out with a pipe cleaner/brake cleaner/whatever.
Sometimes (rarely) it's the baffle inside the tank, if you have small arms it's possible to fix yourself, there's a TSB on how to do it, if you have bigger arms there's no way you can get them into the fuel pump hole then reach up at an awkward angle to reach the baffle...
I've also had moderate success using a funnel and a bit of tiny plastic tubing to pour gas down the small air purge line to try to wash that debris back into the tank. That's the E-Z-mode no taking things apart method but it's really hard to get it aimed into the air purge at the fuel neck.
I've also cheated and sprayed brake cleaner down into that hole....
