ummm...you can set the rev limiter to whatever you want. if you set it at 8000, i'd hope you would never hit it.

Thats just a REV light...doesn't limit crap...just tells you when to shift. REV LIMITERS CANNOT BE SET TO WHAT YOU WANT!!!!

Sorry for the caps (common confusion with people on this board).

Yes, so that the revs drop back down...

Lets not confuse REV LIMITER (kills engine when REVS are significantly past redline, in order not to damage engine and can't be set, come from the factory hardwired to a certain RPM past redline)

with

REV LIGHT ('05) (a light set by the driver to any RPM he desires just to serve as a purpose of when to shift)

Every time I drive it!

Before electronic throttle they used spark and fuel to rev limit. That was a bit hard on the car, the catalysts in particular. Now they can just back off the throttle. You can sit there all day on the limiter. Of course downshifting a 6MT to the wrong gear is another question. Nothing electronics can do to prevent that.

Interesting that mine ('05 6MT) seems to kick in around 7200 rpm. Maybe the tach's not accurate.
