How do you figure it's competition, because it has two doors?

It looks like Hyundai's version of the Tc.

It was directly compared to the Mustang GT and the 350Z 35th anniversary edition.

Saw it and couldn't believe it.

wonder what the weight on that thing is.....not too sure on the syling yet, don't really like it but it may grow on me. Definitely will have some kick to it though, sounds like it will give the "lift" feeling like my old GTS celica did at 6k rpms but with more pull throughout the whole rpm range. The lift feels like a mini turbo kicking in.

Oh, I see. You consider any car that can pull 14.4 @100 mph with two doors competition.

By the way, why don't post more significant info like weight, skidpad, slalom, etc.

competition to those maybe who cant drive...

Let me not get the facts screwed up. the 3.8 is gonna have a nice torque curve. but if you compare similar torque and 30+ more horsepower of a G, thats not much of a race.

the eclipse had better weigh 3-400 lbs less if your claims of competition are to be true.

You sound like a whiny M3 owner when he realizes that he paid more for a car that is 10% better. The new eclipse runs numbers (in a straight line) that are VERY similar to our cars. I will look up the rest of the stats in a few.

R&T got 14.4 @ 101mph and you think 30 more hp in the G matters the most? Maybe it is under rated, but somehow it is putting more power down.

Here is what Road & Track listed as tested:

HP 263
TQ 260
curb weight 3570
0-60 5.8
1/4 mile 14.4 @101.0
60 - 0 127 ft
80 - 0 224 ft
200ft skidpad .83g
700 ft slalom 64.1mph
weight dist: 61/39

This is pretty good for an eclipse. Not going to trade in the G or anything, but it is going to run in a straight line right next to our cars.
