13.7 first time at the track! That is fantastic! I go on both S2ki and S2Kca all the time and I haven't seen anyone claim that kind of success. Mostly there are excuses about how hard the cars are to launch and how they aren't drag cars anyways. I am not doubting you because I recall a mag test where the S did a 13.8 so obviously it is doable but don't make it sound like every second S out there is cracking 13.7s because they aren't, and those that do it aren't likely to be managing it the first time out.
I would say it CAN be a driver's race, and more so because the G will be easier to launch so it shouldn't take as much skill to get a good run out of the car, but with 2 good drivers the S2k should have an average advantage of no less than .2, at least on an 04 and earlier G. I haven't seen the mags get sub 14.0 second times for a G and that to me is the bottom line. If the average road tester gets a 14.0 out of the S and and only 14.3 out of the G, then better drivers are just going to shave down from those numbers.The 350Z track has times that closely mirror the better S2k times and nobody here is going to say the the G will hand it to one of these when the Z is just a lighter, more powerful version of the same car.
I agree that G is not the first choice for a race car and the things that make it less suitable for racing, at least in stock form, are the same things that differ it from the 350Z. Calling it a "family sedan" though, is as incorrect as calling every 2 door a sports car.

Didn't anyone else notice how many other cars there were on the road during race?? Take it to the track fellas. Anyways, I'm surprised to see how many people are in denial about our cars vs s2k. The only s2k i've riden in was vortech supercharged and that hauled a$$ (12 sec q/m). Not sure how fast a stock s2k would be, but the #'s all point to s2k winning.

100% correct! Average/upper poor S2K driver vs. good G35 driver = a driver's race...good driver in S, = forget about it.

Yeah Im also a regular over at s2ki, for about 3 year's now, and your correct again about not every S "driver" being able to hit a 13.7's in the 1/4 mile...however that doesn't mean the "car itself" isan't capeable of hitting those #'s...On my 4th run at moroso in like 75 degree weather, I ran 13.72@101.5 MPH, with a 1.9 60'!! Yes I had to launch at 8K, but had virtualy NO wheelspin either, and that's almost unstopable! I'll bet (and not being cocky, or arrigant) if I drove their S2000 down the track, I would atleast run a 13.8@ about 100, without powershifting, all day long. However I have been racing for a good part of my life, owned many, many honda's, owned Honda shop's, and now work at one almost full time, so yeah im not the "average" driver..but like I said, just beacuse that one specific driver can't mannage anything better then a measily 14.2 in his S2k, doesn't mean with a good driver the car won't get into the 13's and stay there all the time. You feel my point?

Im not trying to hate on the G's performance at all people, trust me, I absolutly LOVE my G35 coupe, and if I had to trade one of my 2 car's in it would be the S2000 that goes...The G is an all around magnificent car, with way more feature's then I need in my life, but love to have! The fact that were even talking about the two car's in the same performance catagory is astonishing to me, and should be taken as a compliment to G driver's. Not an insult.

Oh and did I mention the G35 driver took out his whole trunk! Spare tire, jack, tool's, system, and even the plastic underlayer piece's! While the S2000 was riding with a custom system..2 12" sub's and 2 750 watt amp's in his trunk...and the passenger in the G only weigh's 140lbs.!!

Oh...and did you watch the races from like 10 mph?? Or the one from a stop?? Ummmmm, I hope you don't think that's only .2 tenth's of a second by the time they would be crossing the 1/4 mile line!! That's a good 4-5-6 car's! More like .4, or .6 tenth's!! FYI

First of all I will murder the s2k with 10 mph roll.
I did that time in LACR which is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
Saying that u can beat a G35 in 10 mph roll shows that you dont own an s2k.
Now if u live anywhere near cali, i will be more than happy to WOOP you'r *** espacially with 10 or 20 mph roll. But again i highly doubt that u even own a S2k.

I guess you haven't watched the vid... Watch the vid and see how the G gets raped every single time, except for the two times that it started before the S2k. Yea that does include a 10mph start, it clearly says, "10mph roll" And like aznluder said, most of you guys are in denial. Nobody is bashing on the G. Everybody has agreed that the G is a nicer car, BUT it is not faster. And saying that you can beat an S2k on a 20mph roll, obviously shows that you dont own a G. Hows that for an ignorant statement.

the video IS NOT an acceptable comparison of the performance of the s2k vs G35 and to imply that it is would be an injustice.

We have a video with two people in the G35 with the Window open racing an s2k with 1 driver and top up. how can anybody say this is a FAIR race ???

personally i dont believe the s2k is in the same class as G35. compare it to the BMW,miata, the new saturn or pontiac convertables. You have a heavy V6 vs a light 4cyl convertable.

Okay, I don't know if you have read the entire thread, or just started at the end. The G took out everything in his trunk. EVERYTHING. The S2K has a custom system in his trunk. So lets say the G minus 50lbs+140lbs= 90lbs overall extra weight. Then you have the S2K, which has extra weight of at least 50lbs. So now you have the S2K carrying an extra 50lbs, and the G an extra 90lbs. Theres what, a 40lbs difference in that??? And like I said earlier in the thread, the weight is going to affect the S2K more than it does to the G. And I'm not going to explain this again. Go back and read if you want.

And you're right. These cars DON'T belong in the same catagory, BUT this is what we've been discussing, so that statement is irrelevant.

If you truly believe that the video isn't an acceptable comparison, then there's always whats on paper. And guess which car is faster on paper???

You need to know what a word means before you use it... First off, ricer can be referred to any person driving a Japanese car, not just Hondas. Secondly, ricers are the people that put all that crap on their cars, such as neons, huge wings, a zillion stickers, alteezas, etc etc. You get the idea.

This thread is getting pretty ridiculous. You have the G owners that do accept the fact the S2K is faster, and the ones that are being biased coming up with 10 billion excuses as to why it wasn't a fair race, but then again we're in a G forum. Binpimpin77 owns both cars, he has no reason to be biased. Nuff said.

raced my friend's S2 over and over, same results, my car is bone stock except for the 19's and suspension, he has intake and exhaust...3rd gear and up i pull away...its an even race up to about 110-120, then my G creeps away.
