Thought other G owners were friendly.
I would like to wave to G owners in our area but when I look at them, they are mostly older woman and man. Not just older compared to me, but like retired 10 years ago old~.........those that grab the steering wheel tightly with 2 hands and give the 100% on the road........I tell you.....the grannys got the best green light reflex, if they look any harder at it, the stop light might fall off~
Over here in Jersey, only one time I pull up next to another G 6MT at a light, and I waved, and we exchanged words, that was like 3 months ago. Ever since then, it seems like whenever other guys my age pull up in a G at a light, they will never look over, or even give a nod, I give a "what's up", but they just ignore, I also noticed that they were all automatic. Now, on the other hand, every girl, older couple, or older gent, whether its in a Auto G or Manual, will give me a wave (I'm used to the love from the Subaru Community, I used to get waves from Forresters for Pete's sake). It seems like I get even more love from the Vette people towards the G!!!
I've had several return a thumbs up or wave if they've been alone in the car... Everybody's different... If I've got family in the car I'm usually trying to prevent a fight in the backseat or fingerprints on the windows - no time for pleasantries!!!
In general, people are friendly by nature. However, we are all learned creatures of our surrounding environment and social climates. Unfortunately, for some people a friendly glance, wave, honk, etc. can be construed as a threatening gesture. I never take offense to an unreturned friendly gestures. I just figure that either that particular person is scared/shy or unapproachable. In either case scenario, I would not want heighten that person's sensation, nor would I wish to deal with any negative consequences.
Example . . . Last weekend, my wife and I were taking a nice drive down to the Monterey/Carmel Penninsula. In doing so, I saw a new DG coupe some 1/4 of a mile ahead of us. We were rolling at about 70 mph. I told my wife I was going to get a closer look at the G ahead of us. The said G was in the #1 lane, as my wife and I were in the #2 lane out 4 lanes. The DG G is to the left lane, ahead of us, as I pick up the pace to catch up. I am only going some 75mph. It took me a few minutes to close the gap between us. As we close the gap to the other DG G to within about 3 car lengths, the driver decides to pull away by quite a bit. My wife and I look at eachother and proceed to laugh out loud. I continue on our course and within another few minutes, we are approaching the said G in the same lane configuration, as before. This time the driver puts the pedal to the metal and cuts to the right, crossing in front of me, for a total of 3 lanes in a matter of a couple of seconds. I am like WTF!!!! I stay put in the #2 lane as the other G is traveling in the #4 lane, the furthest right hand lane. My speed is about 70mph now, as is the other G, whom is still some 6 car lengths ahead of us. After about another 3 or 4 minutes of this, my lane is clear ahead of me. I drop it into 5th and take off. As we pass the other G, I notice that driver is a female and quite a bit older than myself. I am 46 and my wife is 38. The other driver has both of her hands clutched to the top of the steering wheel and was staring straight ahead, as we passed by.
You would think that drivers of the same cars would exhibit some sort of camaraderie towards one another . . . Don't expect it. I had not pulled up to the other G agressively nor was I driving erratically. If I did, my wife would have had my A$$ . . . LOL . . .
Oh well, we continued on about our way and had a beautiful day.

lots of Gs over here.. i must have seen like 10 of them out the other day lol... there are two others at my company parking lot... but i work in long island... 05s are still a little rare though... although i see a DG one like mine at Roosevelt field mall all the time, must work there...
Believe it or not but this is a common question on other forums. I've seen the same question posed on Audi, BMW, and Corvette forums. I would imagine that most G35 coupe owners would acknowledge a wave unless they are preoccupied.
When I owned my 993, I use to get waves from almost everyone and I would almost always return the wave. One time however after a paricularly stressful day at work, I neglected to return a wave from a Miata owner because I was still preoccupied with work problems. Anyway when I got to a traffic light the Miata owner began curssing me for being too arrogant to wave. I figured it was no use trying to explain, so I just ignored the guy.

Coupe's never give me the time of day, so I pretty much stopped trying to go out of my way to acknowledge them.
I always find (stock) sedan owners staring at my car when I'm driving, but they never want to look at me when I pull up at a stop light.

Weird, I go out of my way to wave now, especially after I was shrugged off by a couple coupe owners. If you see a dirty black stock sedan in downtown Toronto, do me a favor and wave back, ok?

When I see another G, I try to get closer and wave, but people won't even look over.
