High-Pitched whining noise...

Just started having this high-pitched whining noise, very subtle, when I take off and have the windows open...I think it may be coming from underneath the car, or almost sounds like a slightly loose belt...very high pitched...has anyone else had this problem??

High pitched whine in 1st and 2nd? I think it's normal. I kinda like it myself.

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

Maybe it is the noise from the intake?

yup either the intake or the fuel pump under the right rear corner of the car, infront of the right rear wheel.

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

Is yours a 6MT? All the 6MT's from what I understand make the whining noise to some degree. It's the transmission, something to do with the high performance synchros I think. Mine does it more when it's cold. Dealer told me it's normal I didn't think much of it cause my friends porsche has a similiar sound. Peace.

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

NO NO ...

I know what your sayin man.

I just heard it recently and didnt to this degree before.

Its very weird, its not the intake type sound that we all have come to know and love.

its like a .... FACK... hard to explain ... almost like its sooooo high pitched and only happens on rev up while moving NOT in park or stopped position.. almost like it comes out of the speakers! or right from the front of the window
YAH I know, right where the intake is, almost like a super small loose tube squeeking in air ... I dunno

SERIOUSLY, its not the intake, I can hear the difference, but I DO know what your sayin.

I have a 6speed coupe with 7000k on it and I have just heard this since a few days ago.

weird.

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

Listening to it again, it sounds like a faint metallic squeal, almost like a squeaky brake would sound... I think it's coming from the clutch because it seems to happen when the clutch is disengaged and engaged again, but then goes away quickly, almost like a slight belt squeal...

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

I know one thing at least with mine. The tranny is noisier than I'd like. The clutch chatters, the throw out bearing is noisy (which is what I may think is bothering ****), and the synchro's are pretty loud when the car is cold. Performance wise I have no issue except the long throw on the clutch pedal. **Sigh** Oh well I'm sure they'll fix all the issues in the 05' model. blah.

Re: High-Pitched whining noise...

It ain't from the clutch or manual trans 'cuz I have the same noise from my AT Coupe. It sounds like some kind of transducer or electronic sensor. I'm thinking a good dose of BORLA should take care of it....
