Vdc, Slip And Brake Lights Came On?

Yesterday, I took off pretty aggressively from a red light. By the time I got to second gear, my brake light, VDC and SLIP light came and remained on. I drove the car for another 30 mins and the lights stayed on. When I got home, I turned off the car for about a minute and restarted and all lights went off. What does this mean? What made them come on? Is this something that needs to be addressed by the dealership?

That happend to me. What you can do is 1) take it to pep boys/ dealer where they can hook something up to you car to erase the error and tell you what happened. 2) Disconnect the battery to reset the ECU or use this method to reset it https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...ight=reset+ecu

It could be that your brake pads are almost gone. There's another active thread right now where Motown Hog is describing your exact situation.

"VDC OFF" light, Red "BRAKE" light, and SLIP turned on

This thread might be helpful as well: HELP!? - Replaced rotors, pads, lines, fluid - now SLIP, VDC, BRAKE light are on?

Sandman is right, it's most likely your brake pads.. unless you recently changed them.

this happened to me 1000 miles ago, and im still driving because i havent had the time to bring my car to the dealership

is that bad?

This happened to me about a month ago. I took it to the dealer, fixed under warranty. I dont know how long they worked on it but i got the car back in a half day. They changed the brakes. It is either the brakes or throttle body sensor.

I just checked my fluid and it's slightly above the min marked. Riding around today, I started to notice that high pitched noise from the brakes, so I guess it's time for a replacement. Question: What's this I've been reading about an extended warrantly for 03-04 brakes???

Here's a repeat of my post in the other thread. Also, here is the G35 brake letter I referred to:

...........

Hello:

I think you're right on in terms of your diagnosis, but I have to disagree with your fix. You should never have to add brake fluid, ever -- if it is low you either have a leak or some other problem with your brakes, and you should fix what needs it. My case in point:

Recently while exercising my G35 Sedan in the twisties I also had the three lights of doom come on, but only when hitting the brakes hard whilst cornering. As described before, shutting down and restarting the engine did not bring the lights back. However, the root cause in my case was pretty simple: my front rotors were worn down heavily at 32,000 miles (the pads weren't too great either) and the lost pad and rotor width meant that my brake fluid level was down far enough to trigger the lights.

So, do not just top off your fluid, it's only masking the problem. Besides, as soon as you replace the pads/rotors the extra fluid will be right over the top of the master cylinder, any way.

As an aside: if you have a 2003 or 2004 G35 Infiniti extended a "brake warranty" to 3/36,000. When I mentioned the heavy wear on the rotors and pads my dealer replaced them without a murmur for free. If needed you can find copies of the letter Infiniti sent out on the forums, or I have it also.

Good luck!

Rick

It is the brake fluid. Put it near the max line and that will solve the problem.

It could be any number of things. You have to take it to a dealer or someone else with a code reader that can read the exact code. Same thing just happened with my 06 6mt and it turns out they had to replace the ABS module.

Mine does the same thing when I mess around (Drift/Donuts) with VDC off. My nav screen gives an error too. I turn the car off and start it back up and everything is fine.
