Calling all "X's" with a lowered suspension!
I want to try boots from different cars just don't know where to start or what size would be ideal.
I went the easy way. I built a setup with coupe front springs and new KYB struts up front, and left the stock X springs in the rear with new KYB shocks. The 1" drop up front evened out the gap with the rear wheels and looks good. We had a helluva winter this year, so I'm glad I didn't go lower. Still managed to crack my front bumper on a chunk of ice!
and yes i scrape much more on air ride than i did on static bc i right a lot lower lol i am actually the first bagged 1st Gen G35X in the WORLD!!
I have a shop investigating the true cause of the front right inner boot tear. They are going to put my car up on a dyno rack and do some angle and turn tests to see what is happening. My mechanic said it could be that due to the angle from lowering it is actually rubbing on something and causing the tear. I talked about the lowering and odd angle of the axle and it stressing the boot in various scenarios but he said it may not be that. I will report back what my solution ends up being so that all you guys with an X will know what to do.

Got some news back from my shop. They put the car on the dyno to check the front right inner (passenger) boot, and they did NOT see that it rubs/hits anything at differing angles. They told me what I sort of already knew, which was that boot is very small and NOT designed to handle the new stress an angles from lowering the car. My mechanic said he is going to try to use the front left inner boot (driver); see if it fits, and do some stress testing on it. He seems to think it may work out, and although I've never seen it on this forum he could be right. I will update if that plan does not work out and we go another direction. I should have a definite answer on this particular X ailment in the next week or so.
will someone please clarify for me: i believe i read that rwd sedan lowering springs work just fine on the awd sedan? just wanted to double check before i look at getting the eibach pro-kit since i can not find one for AWD 06 g35x

Think of it his way, If the 350z is RWD and members are putting Z springs on the X, don't you think that aftermarket springs for the Z would also work on the X?
that makes sooooo much sense.......made me feel like an idiot lol, but thanks
