bought one and cleaned it for the hell of it. Didnt notice any difference but noticed the MAF sensor unit looks exactly like the one on the can. Ill just do it to my family's cars for the hell of it too. Let me know did anyone get a contrasting effect after they cleaned it

well, ok, that took like 30 minutes, including a 10-minute test drive. now, i have the pop-charger, so i unscrewed the MAF thingie from both ends (without removing the MAF sensor itself) and sprayed it from both ends a few times.

there is no difference in WOT acceleration that i could tell. but there is DEFINITELY improved mid-range. the low-end is not really there - it jumps immediately into the mid-range, if that makes any sense. i drove like i normally drive (bloody maniac-ish), and the engine and tires were still warm-ish from my drive back from work a couple of hours earlier. but i was chipring tires left and right and my slip light kept going on on pretty much every take off. strangeness. this works. 10 minutes, and if even it makes you think your car is now faster, it's way worth it. i actually saw some gains - what do ya know!

another report tomorrow, after the drive to work.

Go back down to your garaage, I'll be over in 15 minutes and we're going to do mine.

Thanks for your feedback Igor, I'm sure this explains the problems I've been having with my car, and assuming this does what it's supposed to I expect a MASSIVE gain.

boris, do it. i'll be up for another 1.5 hours at least.

if not tonight, you're always welcome to use my MAF cleaner and the exhaust-scrubbing driveway.

I was semi-serious, but now I'm semi-sleeping. I'll pick up the CRC from Kragen and do it at home on Friday.

all right, buddy. don't build it up in your head - your mileage may vary - but hey, it can't hurt, right? sleep tight.

Good to hear it worked for you too. Did you try doing an ECU reset?

no, i didn't do ECU reset.

ok, morning upgrade. the car behaves differently. acceleration is a lot more linear now than it used to. even on cold engine it feels like the car has been warmed up for a while. there is no hesitation at ~3k rpm, no lag either. this is in any gear, at any throttle position. it pulls a lot nicer. the intake sound changed also - it's a bit more quiet, doesn't sound like the engine is about to jump out. and yes, she pulls harder at mid-throttle.

so, verdict: this works, do it, do it now. huge thanks to scorcher!

I guess that makes sense as @ WOT the ecu uses pre-mapped ign/fuel tables and goes into open loop.

Thanks for posting the report.

i doubt 13k miles can dirty it up too much - but you can try anyway.
my car has over 70k on it, and MAF never been cleaned, that i know of.
it didn't look too dirty though, but what do you know.

As Codeflux said, I doubt it work make a difference if any that you can feel at all. My car is a '03 Sedan with 104000KM and the MAF was never cleaned.

After cleaning it, the car felt the same as when I bought it three years ago.

well, you never know. maybe was got stuck behind a diesel truck or a tank or something for like 10 miles one day. maybe his sensor is all covered with soot. maybe he lives in a neighborhood with high amount of farts in the air, so the MAF got all clogged up. try it.
