took my car to the dealership AGAIN!!!
once again, i took my car into the dealership for front end noise....
the first time, they change the shock absorber cartridge, which was out of my extended warrany and i had to pay.
this time they changed my rack and pinion and links. stating that there was internal failure....pretty big job, and i'd think it would fix the clunking noise i get over bumpy roads.
WELL IT DIDN'T
to make a long story short, i'm getting tired of this dealership, and would want to take my car to another one.
how does this work with the extended warranty, can i just call any other dealership and make an appt, will my warranty be honored?
btw, any ideas what the noise can be from??

its like a clunking noise. i only hear it over a sudden bump in the road, or a dip, like a pot hole or something....but the noise is loud....likie metal hitting metal.
at fast speeds on the highway, its not there , but whenever there's a suddden bump, or rough road, i hear it....

there was a rubber bushing for the rack and pinon (spelling) that was missing on my civic si and made that noise. I don't know if G's have it, but defintely check it out...
Lots of speculation here, but I wonder if this clunking noise could be ye old compression rod bushing problem. When it gets bad, it sounds awful too. It most often occurs on undulating surfaces such as driveway aprons, modest bumps in the road (especially dips and rises), gets worse in cold weather, etc. Sometimes it will be just a quick "crunch" sound, other times will actually vibate and rattle for a second. Just a thought...try doing a search here for "compression rod" and see if what people are describing might fit your problem.

You mentioned an extended warranty. Did you purchase the car new and added the extended warranty? What year is your car and the mileage? If you did purchase the car new with an extended warranty (ie extending the factory warranty) you can take your G to any Infiniti dealership.
OK, so you bought it used but was it from an Infiniti dealer? If so was it a Certified Pre Owned vehicle? Certified vehicles can only be offered by dealerships selling the same brand used cars. Some of the reasons, at least in California, why a dealership won't certify a car is because of mileage, it has been modified or not in stock condition and or body damage that has been repaired. I worked for an Acura dealership and dealt with both new and used cars. If the car was certified it usually extends the factory warranty which is 4 years 60K (not sure what Infiniti offers). I would suggest taking it to another Infiniti dealership if possible and see if they can give you an idea what's wrong with the front end.
