Last night, 3 of us were in the car. I did the DD thing while they drank, mainly cause I love this car. Anyways, there is a 2 mile stretch in my town between two exits on I40 which I drove home on. Accelerated 145 mph in less than 2 miles (had to allow about a quarter mile to brake in). That is at 5000 feet altitude so just imagine how fast this thing can get up to that speed with jsut the driver at sea level.

Just wanted to state that. BTW, had to drive around for about ten minutes to let the brakes cool off after the 145 to zero stop.

146 mph? huh, this car has seen 158 by speedo. On a closed stretch of desert highway. all the mags say we are governed to 155 mph which I can believe as +/-5 mph is believable. but 12 mph off ? not a chance. The altima is governed at 145 for the manual tranny. maybe the automatic tranny has a different governor setpoint

I have never seen the governor kick in in this car yet. been to 150 a few times.

And just for all you flamers, there was zero traffic 2 am and completely flat terrain

I'm not flaming, but the Coupe is supposed to be governed at 155MPH, with the Sedan 6MT governed at 146MPH...Odd

I'm a stickler for factual numbers, so... just some numbers to chew on... this is for the 6MT Sedan. Same numbers (except speed-attainment #s) are found in R&T, Motor Trend, etc. Check out www.caranddriver.com, search for G35 and go from there.

ok, i could have read the speedo wrong, I doubt it but at 140+ mph you just don't have much time to look down at the speedo. I will just have to go out again and check it with a camera. Last night I was DEFINITELY at 145-146-147 in that area, but previously I could have sworn I hit 158 mph at around 6000 rpm

Where about on I-40. I just took a road trip with my black G from Cali to TX. Followed I-40 the whole way. I remember lots of flat spots.

I had mine up to 136, boy do I love how this baby rides....

No troll here. I actually enjoyed the trip (except for my darn rock chips). Hell I might have seen you as I visited the Grand Canyon and then headed off to NM. You know, you buy a G and you start seeing them all over the place.....

AZ is old stomping ground for me. Lived in Phx '85-'91.
