2.5 gal to go = 50 miles to empty (20 mpg)

it's on the safe side.

Most cars are like that and not a probolem. Car manufacturers know a large majority of people don't get gas until it's on 'E'.

Yes my light comes on around when you describe, i do a ton of driving and have pretty much figured out what I can do after the light is on and I pretty much always put 18 gallons in regardless when I see the light. But knowing that I would not say it comes on to early, we are not get 30+ mpg or alike.

Mine comes up with 4-5 gallons to go too. I have a little issue with the tank not filling up all the way (or a very inaccurate gauge) too since the needle rarely reaches to the top on a full fill up.

Mine comes on when there is 3-3.5 gal left. I have always had cars that turn on the light when there is ~50 miles to go so its not that far off considering I average 17-18mpg.

That just means she is thirsty, you know when you have a beer and it gets to the bottom it kinda tastes like beer... that was thrown up back into the bottle... well the G feels the same way.
