What would you change about the G35 Sedan?
Hello,
I was wondering what others would change about their G35. Having owned ours since April 2003, I have seen a number of things I would like to see changed and I've been wondering what else I haven't thought about.
I'd like to hear about ANYTHING. Areas to suggest would include:
1. Interior (trim, seats, etc.)
2. Exterior (styling, etc.)
3. Power Train (engine, transmission, differential, etc.)
4. Suspension (springs, shocks, coilovers, rollbars, etc.)
5. Brakes (rotors, pads, calipers, brakelines, etc.)
6. Other
Anything goes, from what the factory should have done, but didn't to what aftermarket items should be available. I'm sure suggestions here would be useful for both Infiniti and aftermarket suppliers.
Thanks.
Scott

To date, the only thing I would change would have to deal with the brakes, but, I am torn on that, these brakes offer the best stopping I have ever seen, just wish they could make a pad that wears better, even though it's warranteed. Not much else I would change though, I like it just fine!

Re: What would you change about the G35 Sedan?
Great suggestions in all posts so far. I'd add...
1) A sport/normal function for the ECM and TCM
Sport = maximum power. Normal = adaptive mode.
2) At least 300 hp and 300 ft/lbs torque for all G35s.
3) VLSD standard for all G35s.
4) Minimum 235/50/17 tires for the Sedan.

The lighted buttons on the console are a little intimidating at night. Also, if the navigation system is off, why do those buttons still have to light up?
A mode with the remote where, like my truck, it doesn't honk when locked, but if I wanted to doublecheck, honk if locked again.

Better sounding stereo (and faster 6 disc), a more 'manly' horn, dual exhaust (for power, looks, and sound), different color interior lights, better steering wheel controls for stereo, better paint (less scratches), etc.
I could go on, but if I got them all the car would cost much more and would not be the value it is.
Even with the flaws, I still love it. Besides, many of the things that bug me I can either fix or ignore.

This horn is okay, what isn't "manly" is like the old Datsun horns used to be, those sounded like a strangled goose!

I'm def gonna have to go with MORE HP! Bigger and wider rims/tires. Our cars have amazing handling, but with wider tires we'd be untouchable! A place for sway/strut bars to go. Dual exhaust, better lighting, make the fogs hid's as well and make our high beams hid like the M3's. No more mirrors in our head lights, we need projectors!! Seats are a pain! they keep making noises! Better sound system (more bass!)!! That's about it! I love my car the way it is, but these things would just make the car a million times better! anyone else agree?

Give it some useless electronic gizmos so we can stop people from saying "But the TL has more toys!" Then performance would be the true indicator of excellence.

Re: What would you change about the G35 Sedan?
I don't mind the stock wheel/rim size considering the general sedan audience, but I would have preferred a lower offset for the wheels. Finding a lightweight 18x9 +55 rim is really hard.
Also, the lack of the seat entry feature on the 6MT is a pain.

Re: What would you change about the G35 Sedan?
1) Staggered and wider tires. The sedan at the moment has a VERY sudden oversteer that is hard to modulate. I would go at least 225 in the front and 245 in the rear, this would make it more controllable and move the oversteer tendency further out to the limit. I agree with the comment above to tweak the protruding suspension components to allow wider tires than possible now. The dimensions I mention above aren't too far from the limit and that's what the 3-series has, for example.
2) Better stock intake plenum. There is absolutely no reason not to have one from the factory.
3) LSD
4) Less restrictive exhaust/cats
5) Change the interior titanium plastic bits to some kind of real metal, especially the door latches.
6) Use a more scuff-resistant plastic for door panels. Hard plastic scratches easily and very obtrusively, softer materials are more forgiving.
All except the tires and LSD are very minor complaints for me. I love the car overall and I will upgrade those parts eventually.

Re: What would you change about the G35 Sedan?
I kinda wish the electric seat adjustment switches were under the left side of the seat like most other cars. It's not in the way or anything, I'd just rather have it hidden from plain view.
Unlike the side mirror adjustment switch which took me 10 minutes to find. I'd prefer this feature be a little more visible for future owners.
A window rollup via remote would be nice, though someone's already working on that.
OH, and I wish that the center console was set up so that you could swap out the stereo without having to cut anything! I really wanted to install my old MP3 deck, but didn't want to cut anything up.
Other than that, wider tires, allow for staggard setup, improved brake pads for less dust, yadda yadda yadda...
Oh, and I wish we could have a dual exhaust that LOOKS like a dual exhaust (with mufflers on each side). I was totally drooling over the Injen exhaust for the coupes. Now I'm waiting to see a sedan version...
I swear, coupe owners are just like IT Managers...they ALWAYS have dibs on the new stuff...
