I too am a noob to this type of turbo setup.
As far as the air intake move to possibly the spare tire wheel well, definitely seems like a better environment for clean/dry air....but what about "fresh" air? There really wouldn't be any fresh air going into this intake in a closed trunk with mat....wouldn't that make the performance suffer?

It wold be nice if you could get the intake air piping done in some heat exchange piping. Aluminum rings over it all to disipate the heat.
