G35 Sedan
^sounds like your on the right track, the mrev2 is what you want..its technically a ported nonrev lower plenum...doubt you'll need the spacer with that as well. Your y-pipes should be the same unless the z has an aftermarket one..you can get a little better sound changing the midpipe

Let me know if I'm on the right track.
The 06 y-pipe is the same as yours, you need one from a 2007-08 Z

Hey I have a 04 5AT Sedan.

These are the Engine/Exhaust Mods so far:
Coupe midpipe
HR y pipe
no name axel back muffler

Thinking of getting either
Test pipes or 5/16 spacer...Any opinions? Looking for some power gains

5/16th spacer is really nice, I have mine and I love it. If its cold in your area get an iso-thermal one, if it snows get a copper iso-thermal one. Test pipes will net a bigger gain because the you eliminate the cats which are crazy restrictive, has a little rasp though. Personally, the smell of test pipe makes me sick so I won't run them but A LOT of guys do and love them. Moral of the story, why chose one or the other when you should just buy both??

I am planning to get a CAI. Is it a good idea? I mean do i have to supplement it with other installs to gain any advantage?

you will just get some better sounds from your engine. not much performance unless you do a plenum spacer or an exhaust mod. the intake from the factory is pretty good. you could just buy a z tube and get the same sound for much less.

biggest downside to a cai is you could pull in water and that is not good for the engine.

IMO a cai is not worth it. You are going to stress alot about sucking in water and hydrolocking your engine. The stock airbox will give you more hp than an intake will.

If I were you, I would just invest in a K&n high flow air filter. That will give you a nice whistle sound when you step on it and 2 or 3 hp

My turn. Introducing myself. New to this forum. New to the car since mid Feb '12. Got an '06 5AT in Obsidian. Came with most every option that I can tell besides Nav, has bluetooth, power everything and has black leather. I've been reading through the Threads here and seen many different opinions on MD Spacer 5/16 vs some CAIs. I live in the NYC area which means i experience all different types of weather for the most part, summers last year hit 110 F and winters hit 9 F so its a pretty broad range on weather which spacer would be best for me and if anyone suggest a CAI that wont give me loss in power and will sound pretty beastly im all ears. Still looking for the deal Breaker on Intake Vs Spacer.

That takes care of intake, for the exhaust im pretty torn with some toss up options, Saw some HKS and seen many people who run it are very pleased with sound and quality but im also open to opinions for a nice sounding exhaust that will minimize rasp tone. Stillen Gen 2 sounded nice with the DC headers and Kintetix HFCs. But if people have some nice combos producing some nice HP with amazing aggressive note please let me know some set ups can include Mid pipe , y pipe ... whatever you thinking help me out haha i have to get modding asap, its well needed

I am planning to get a z-tube. Is it a good idea? What gains should i expect? Do i complement it with a k&n air filter and a JWT pop charger?

Can i do just z-tube and K&N.

What are advantages/disadvantages of above two options? Also much should i expect to pay?

Thank you

Intake=Shiny noise maker.
Don't expect any gains in power.
Ztube & pop charger has the best sound without losing power.
Stillen box is nice too

Can i use the following:- 350Z Z-tube - K&N Air filter - JWT Pop charger?

Are you referring to Stillen z-tube kit with intake as Stillen box? I am confused!
