Alright, I have a question now in regards to a mod. I have an 03 Sedan, plan on doing a polished engine bay setup. Intake, I really like the design of the Furookie but I am saddened to hear that it has been discontinued and I cant find any used that are in the marketplace. What is a comparable unit in terms of look and design, especially in the polished finish with no visible branding?

Hello, new member here. I have a 2003.5 sedan (5AT) that my father passed down to me when he got his g37. So far, a stillen intake and some minor aesthetic things have been done to it. I love the idea of naturally aspirated VQ's and I plan on keeping it that way. I would like some performance upgrades but I do not know where to begin. Future plans would be mainly for autocross and track use. I would firstly like to focus on suspension upgrades, but I would still like to upgrade the engine and transmission simultaneously. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! That list actually helps a lot. It's nice to have a foundation to refer to. I think one cool things about our g's is the transmission. There is of course the "manual elitists," but the automatic is so cool! SPORTSHIFT. I have done a little reading about the transgo and the components. The install is a little technical but doable. Would you mind telling me the pros and cons of it? And also, whenever in sport shift mode I will up shift manually, and it will take the transmission a little bit of time to actually change gears. What makes the car do this? Will the transgo make my shifts faster? I have gotten very good at timing when I am supposed to shift relative to my speed.

the stock slush box is just laggy in general. the transgo will give you much firmer(sometimes even violent) and quicker shifts. no real cons, it's actually better for your tranny. only somewhat drawback is hard shifting sometimes when you don't mean to.

if the budget is truly open I can set you up with a national winning setup lol. Chances are, you dont wanna spend that much before you know whether you like the sport or not.

Performance wise
id keep it pretty stock, maybe a intake to sound cool but thats about it really.

suspension
truechoice with swift or eibach springs (your spring rate) there double adj so pretty good to work with, a lot of people have these before upgrading to JRZ, penske, moton etc etc.
SPL rear camber arms
SPL A arms
SPL DIFF BUSHINGS
all the bushings up front, SPL.
hotchkis sways
SPL endlinks
pretty much SPL everything lol

get a real diff, NISMO, CUSCO, OS GIKEN.
get gears (4.3)

get a oil cooler, get a ps cooler, get a tranny cooler.

Rims
this is a basic setup to start off on
18x9.5 +38 with a square 265/35/18 RS3

brakes
project mu g-four 335 fluid
centric rotors
XP12 front XP10 rear pads

main thing, driver mod. Honestly and im being serious. Sign up for a HPDE ... get the brake setup I recommended and go out otherwise stock. You dont need anything else until after you out drive the car. Ive seen people come to track days in fully prepped spec miatas, challange vipers, TT EVO, STI, lemans C6, etc etc and were so slow it was embarrassing!

if you will get serious with tracking stick to tracking if you will get serious with autox (Which I recommend you stick with track not autox) stick with it, if you decide to go to shifter carts stick with it. Youll get faster and faster and better and better but dont keep jumping back and fourth!

^he has an auto so 4.3fd is gonna be overkill and he already has an intake, other than that good recommendations. also the stock 03-04's only came w/one pistons all around and tiny rotors that overheat pretty quick, so it'd be a waste upgrade the pads and rotors. upgrading to the 05-06 brakes would be a minimum and OEM brembos w/2pc rotors would be an option too w/o getting too expensive, SS braided lines and DOT4 fluid is always good either way
