Stillens CAI/Z-Tube combination is the best for several reasons. Plastic composite so you won't have heat soak issues like other aluminum open intakes. Contains a giant K&N cone filter so your car will breathe easily. Sounds great too, but finally they come with a CARB number so smog checks are a cake walk...Gary

Performance enhancers

Hi again, I have a 2005 5 speed semi-automatic. What are things that I can do to gain more horsepower and speed?

Since the front brakes do most of the stopping, unless the front rotors are oversized, then the slots are taking braking contact surface area away, actually hindering braking performance. Slots are great for track pads which emit gases which need to be dispersed by the slots which by doing so suck the pads to the rotors, but that isn't going to be the case for street pads. Ultimately, the slots just look cool.

Because they think the extra surface area of the slots help cool the rotors which technically helps boost braking performance, if it actually worked like that. OK, I give them a little credit - the extra surface area does help cool the rotor, just not enough to make a difference like drilled rotors.

I want someone to do a road test to see what rotors actually do work best, WITH REPEATED HARD BRAKING.... Use the same pads with OEM rotors, OEM sized slotted, and OEM drilled. Do 10 hard stops from 60 with all 3 setups and see which has the shortest AVERAGE distance. My guess would be OEM has the shortest single stop but I bet drilled comes out on top with the best average. I'm just tired of all the heresay about solid, slotted, and drilled

Drilled can crack the easiest from china copies of perfectly machined holes.

Slotted look nice but unless you are buying two piece rotors there really is not a difference (pad cools when lifted off the rotor, except when specifically designed for the rotor).

OEM pads and Rotors are absolutely terrible. Just buy centric rotors and pads while reusing your old shims. They will last twice as long and stop well enough for street use. Track though? Upgrade to stop tech track pads and bed them for the track.

Best street pad (affordable) is centric bed in from 60-20.

Also... STOPPING DISTANCE REALLY IS NOT EFFECTED BY ROTOR SIZE/PAD SIZE. INCREASE CALIPER STRENGTH AND TIRE QUALITY TO DECREASE STOPPING DISTANCE. NEW PADS ONLY REDUCE FADE BETTER.

So true, most people don't realize that the biggest factor in braking is your tires.
