You need to spend some time on here reading up on planned mods. This forum has a wealth of information and people simply don't have time to explain to you how each mod will affect your car, there are just too many options for that to be feasible.

Dunlop has some nice ones that look good have them on my 03 Sedan discount tire has them for $85-90 each. But there are a lot of nice tires out there just be sure to check the speed rating 95w is 0-149mph. If you get tires that have a 95c those are good up to I believe 60-80mph and at that point the tires belts that keep it round will lose its form and cause a messed up tire. Also if you never heard of the tire brand before don't waste your time or money on them they are at times guaranteed to fail..Good Luck

The first post mentioned Stern wheels. I was also thinking about getting these since they have a great price (500 shipped).

Anyone have any input on those? My 2005 G35x is bonestock right now, so I'd like to throw those rims on, no idea what kind of tires to get and then start with the intake. Anyone have advice on tires...I don't need anything too performance oriented...just something that looks good, has good traction in wet weather and doesn't wear out in 5,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated!

Wow, he asked about a z tube and some cheap wheels back in 2009 and you give him bad advise on tires?
No passanger car tire has a speed rating below 75mph which is an L rating, these tire are typically off road truck tires, there is no C rating. If you look really hard you might find tires with an S rating in the proper size for a G sedan (215/55/17), that's still 112mph, most tires that fit will have H (130mph), V (149mph, or W (168mph) ratings. Lastly the cheapest W rated tire I could find on discounts website was $106.00 and an off brand (Barum), by your logic, "guaranteed to fail". If you need tires plan to spend at least $600.00, and yes buy a premium brand with an H or V rating.

Looking to get exhaust

Ive been looking around and watching tons of videos of g35s with different types of exhaust and I'm not sure which I should get. I was hoping someone could help me out, I want a deep sounding exhaust that sounds stock at low rpms. Also I really don't have much to spend. I was probably hoping to spend at least 300 but don't want to spend much more than that. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

For $300 you can't even get an HKS muffler. Try a Magnaflow muffler welded onto your stock y pipe, mid pipe combo. You couldn't get a pair of test pipes and then pay for labor to put them on in your budget, much less a complete exhaust.

Methinks you might have bought the wrong car, there's no such thing as good and cheap mods for the G. Pick one or the other, that's all you'll find for $300.

With that budget it will be tight. You may be able to find some used parts like a coupe mid etc. However, due to your budget you may not achieve the sound you are going for. IMO save up your money and get something nice!

I have an 05 G35x. Looking to do some minimal beutification mods and then some "fun driving" mods. My main concern is to keep the car as reliable and as useful as I can. By that, I mean that I'm not afraid to put in sway bars and maybe a plenum spacer, but I don't want to lower it so much that I have to buy a new bumper every 12 miles or put in any sort of FI (maybe in 50k miles or so ).

Next summer I'll be doing some SCCA races, probably with this car. I'd like to keep it in the Stock category as long as I can. That's not a huge priority, though, just something I'm going to be keeping in mind as I add things to the car. You can find the SCCA rules here, if any of you are interested.
http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=44517

I have enough income to spend on about any modification I would want, but there are other hobbies that will be consuming my funds, too. Therefore, I'd like to have everything I do be cost effective (no spending $1000 and 5 hours of work for 2hp).

Now I can actually list out the things I want to do. Each list is in order.
Cosmetic:
Different Wheels
Debadge (which in turn means a new front grill)
Lower (between 0.5" and 1.5")
Hood Dampers (cause why not)

I've seen some mixed comments on this, so I'm hoping to clear this up. If I do a Z/G spring swap, will my non-sport suspension be in jeopardy? What struts can I use in order to keep a smooth ride and a long suspension life? Do the X's have less options for this?

Performance:
Sway bars (allowed by SCCA for stock)
Plenum Spacer
Strut tower bars (not allowed by SCCA for stock)

I don't know what else actually helps performance, but I'm slowly going through all 50 pages of this thread to hopefully get an idea. Engine sound isn't something that I care to improve on a sole basis. Making the car faster is.

Thanks for any help.

The best place for you to start will be tires and sways, they will make the biggest difference for the money. If you change wheels you'll need to spend the extra money to get something light, you could get some coupe Rays, or 350z track wheels (still not cheap). I think you are limited on struts, if you plan on lowering the car at all just bite the bullet and buy good coils, they will be totally adjustable so you can tune the suspension to suit your track days, if you stay stock height buy the best struts you can find for an x, I'm not sure if D-specs will fit but they would be a good choice. Strut bars are a waste, leave it off and stay in the stock class. I would get the car setup up before messing with the motor. Have fun

I'm hoping to spend under $1k on wheels (extra on tires), and I think I can get some damn decent ones if they're used. I probably won't get new tires till I get new wheels, since the wheels will probably be an inch or two bigger. I don't care for the 350z wheels, and I'm currently using the Coupe OEM Rays as a back up if I don't find something fairly cheap that I like.

I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to get coils.... . That's like 5x more than just getting coupe springs.... That sucks. Can I ask why? Will they last longer? What brand should I get? How much should I expect to pay? I know I've seen some that say they work for the X, so I think I'd be ok with that.

That's what I've usually heard about strut bars. I think they look cool, but I'm not going to worry about getting strut bars for at least a year (most of these other things should be done by spring). By "Get the car setup" you mean suspension? Or just a general "take baby steps" sort of advice?

Get the suspension setup. Most shocks don't offer any adjustment, D specs do but like I said, I don't know if they make them for the X. D specs and Z/G coils would be a decent combination if it will work.

But if I'm doing a conservative drop (only 1"), then do I really care if I can adjust the ride height? What sort of performance bonus will I get out of coils?

My problem with coils is that for the same price as a good set of coils, it seems like I could get sway bars and strut tower bars while still having a few hundred dollars left over to add to my wheel fund.

Not height adjustable, damping adjustable, you said you planned on racing it right? D specs have adjustable compression damping.
