OFFICIAL "What Mods Should I Buy?" Sedan Thread
1) G35's ecu's don't have epromm chips, you need software to adjust settings in the same manor the factory does. While Hypertech makes a programmer for the V35 platform, it is not really adjustable. UPREV is the method of choice for most.
2) An UPREV tune is not a waste for even a stock G or Z, you will see gains with a dyno tune.
3) Your ecu will not adjust for bolt ons, it will continue to lean the engine out showing only marginal gains for every bolt on.
To get the full potential for all of these bolt ons a tune is necessary, and will yeild more hp than all of them combined. My car gained close to 28hp from an UPREV dyno tune and has very few mods, HR y-pipe, 350Z mid pipe, plenium spacer, rev-up air box, K&N filter and silicone induction tube.
I need help 05 g35 sedan
I've had my sedan for like 3 months and I have learned the potential it has. I want to get it 300 to the wheels and I'm gooood. What do I do?? I need help! What should I change exactly? I know nothing...
300+ to the wheels might be tough without a supercharger/turbo.
You probably put down about 220-230HP to the wheels now. Adding 70HP to the wheels will take about 100-120HP crank to do. That's tough to do N/A on a motor as efficient as the VQ. It will also be expensive.

For the price you'll get to possibly getting the car to 300whp and still chancing it might not be near that is already better off to boost the car. The DE motor is a great motor, but it was made so well from factory, it's tuning capabilities are limited. I say get all the bolt ons and tune it and even let's say it makes 265whp I promise you it will move. Or supercharge it, it can easily make 340 to the wheels with low boost keeping is very safe and conservative. Very practical for daily driving.
Don't worry so much about advertised HP gains or you'll find yourself being disappointed.
What exactly is your budget? If it's generous, skip right to Forced Induction and supporting modifications. If you need to do a few things at a time, pick mods that will work well with each other.

I want to do mods that will work together.I have a grand right now, what things should I do first get sound and a little extra power from a stock motor? Also what should I pay?
An intake plenumI, exhaust and tune is not gonna net you 50+ RWHP on a N/A combo. The VQ is not that inefficient. Even Kenitics own website only claims 20 RWHP with the plenum and exhaust mods and who knows what other supporting mods were on that test vehicle or if it was a stock car.

I just recently purchased a stillen intake / ztube + motordyne spacer+ kinetix HFC+ stillen cat back exhaust. I was swapping my engine and decided now was the time to go all out. Should be ready next week. I'd say from what I've read on forums that plenum spacer and Osiris tune is best bang for buck. That would bring you around 1000$
New '05 G35x owner looking for mods
I just purchased an '05 G35x sedan and am wondering what the best bang for the buck mods are? I already have a built Z32 so I'm no stranger to the modding world. From what I've read thus far it seems like there aren't much gains to be had from the intakes? Besides that, would test pipes and the plenum spacer be a good place to start? I'm not planning on replacing the engine internals, so a SC/TT set-up is probably out of the question, but whatever info anyone can provide would be much appreciated.
Also, I'm a little confused on the ECU reflash process for these cars....? I'm use to just throwing a new chip in the socketed ECU, but it appears that this is a bit different.
Again, any commentary would be much appreciated.

plenum spacer is going to be the best bang for the buck, then test pipes/ HFC, followed by an Uprev reflash & tune.
The reflashing is done with a laptop and special Uprev OBD2-usb cable using the OBD2 port under the steering wheel. No need to remove or install anything. Its just software that reprograms the stock ecu.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about Uprev tuning

You are sadly mistaken and should consider backing away from your keyboard when these questions come up.

I have a full exhaust, intake, plenum spacer, and art pipes and my car has no tune or ecu reset and does not run lean
Sure I will gain more power with a tune but it runs fine now and I have $500+ left over
A g35 really is not a fast car its not really worth spending $500 on a tune to go from 230 to 250rwhp and many people do not even see 20hp gains
A tune from a decent place is at least $500+ with the license for uprev
