IS300?

IS300?
I have a few questions. First off, I am about to be at the stage where I will purchase a car. I am looking at the IS300 and the G35 sedan, I love both...........I know you guys are biased but what are the reasons for choosing the G over the IS300?
Also, If I were to continue with the plan on getting a black G35 sedan, Im pretty sure that I would want to put the coupe's 18" wheels on it.......would the 18" wheelz IMPROVE performance at all???? or would they be heavier/worse ride.....I would really like to know if the people with those wheels like them or not.......
And finally.....I have read many posts on tweaks and other stuff like the seats breaking or the doors rattling.....I really do not want to purchase a car thats going to have to be fixed immediately. Are there ways of telling the dealership to fix that kind of stuff before it happens? Kind of like me being smarter than them and knowing wuts wrong with the car before i buy it, that would be a great help.....I also heard of some recall on something....can i get this pre-fixed? Thanks a lot for ur help.
btw....is it true that the traction control never completely disengages??????
Have any of yall ever drifted ur G35's? and if so, how was it?

Re: IS300?
Well, for one, the G35 doesn't come from the factory with those horrid looking chromed taillights. But I guess that's a personal opinion thing.
It's bigger, size-wise. More like a BMW 5 than a 3.
260hp, 260lb-ft from the VQ35 engine.
I like the 17"s that come with the G35's sport-tuned suspension. I imagine that weight and choice of tire would have more of a difference in handling than 17" or 18" rims. That being said, there are better choices in tires available in 18" sizes that fit the G35 sedan at this point in time. Hopefully that will change within a year.
As for issues with the car, many of them have been fixed with updates to the production line back in October/November. For any issues that your car may have, I seriously doubt any dealer would "pre-fix" something. It has to break before they mess with it. I don't think you'd be able to get any dealership from any manufacturer to "pre-fix" things. However, Infiniti service departments are pleasant to deal with, and you get a free loaner if they have to keep your car for awhile.
The traction control disengages. The stability control disengages. What's left is something called "Brake LSD" (limited-slip differential). The G35 sedan does not have a real LSD. It brakes the slipping wheel to force power to the other wheel. This piece of the VDC system stays active.
Drift? Not yet.

Re: IS300?
IS 300 Looks like a RICE Civic. Still uses the Old J2ZE motor from the Toyota Supra, Not the Turbo one of course. Still a Good motor, My Mechanic Dr Charles is putting superchargers in the IS 300's. They Haul, However the IS has been out for what 2-3 years? The G-35 is only 1 year old, Charles mentioned that a TWIN turbo set up in the G could be done for $6K Go with the G........ Take it from a Soon to be EX Honda/Acura man......

Re: IS300?
The IS Sportcross was my vehicle of first choice, but it was not available in February. The dealer suspects Lexus is holding them back to upgrade the HP. There is something to be said for Lexus' attention to detail and quality, Infiniti cannot match them here. The G sedan and IS sedan were my 2nd and 3rd choices respectively.
My reasons for choosing the G over the IS
- more power, lots more.
- more rear seat room, for the 4yr old and another on the way
- more room in the front seats as well
- new model vs. 3 yr old model
- IS car enthusiasts, like Honda/Acura enthusiasts tend to be a little ricey and "flamey." I couldn't stomach their forums.
- Owned a few Nissan's before and have faith in their reliability; looking to get 200K+ miles from the G.
- G is the better value

Re: IS300?
is300 is a good car...but too me it resembles the new toyota corolla..i dun know y..but it does...anyways...
Its nearly impossible to drift with the auto, but i'm pretty sure you can do it with the manual...
BMR1717,
have you tested both cars yet? if so, then you should already know which car you are getting...tats how I felt when I test drove the g....you can definetly have the dealer check for those problems, but once again..that kind of stuff doesn't happen for awhile...
I have had no problems with my g...no squeaks..no rattles..no nothing...I quess I'm one of the lucky ones..but seriously..you cannot go wrong with the G..
But I gotta tell you tho...you gotta get a different color than black...Everytime I look at my car..its always dirty...and shows the swirl marks bad...I suggest go with the white...you'll be alot happier...tats was my second choice...

Re: IS300?
Why I bought a G over an I:
- G has more power, more power than I need, actually. But it's nice to have.
- G is better for hauling other adult family members.
- I is too ricey, with the gauges and stupid taillights.
- Too many I's in SoCal already.
- Don't think the price premium is worth it.
