Looking at 05 G35

So I am looking at a used 05 G35 which I can get for 16k under 50k miles.

I have read about the Oil consumption issues on some cars, I read very little other then that on this car.

Any things I should look at? Any thing I should know?

Edit: also I am wondering in some 05s The shifter is either leather at the base vs just a stick and a grove.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by a "stick and a grove"?

they're leather on the base of the shifter.

watch for noises. I bought an 05 with 54k for $14.5. There are lots of interior noises I've been remedying myself. Just have to spend some time on them, car is well known to be a rattly bastard.

Stick and a groove is 04 and earlier right? I have an 05 and love it... no issues other than the recent mod addiction that has surfaced.

Stick and groove is on a Ferrari F355, not on G35

Ok so I went and saw a 05 G35x. or at least they think . They don't know what the car has or nothing except what you can see.

Did the G35x have the "X" next to the G35 on the rear in 05?

They want 21k for it. I am looking more for 18k, The thing is that the carfax report says it was in an accident and this makes the car worth 18k or less since its not clean but I need to find out more importantly what the accident was. It might of been a small bump or some thing.

Is there any way from the vin to find out if its is an X and what it has?

It did have Bose ,pop of nav,Moon roof.

I took it on the highway and some rattling in the dash but not to loud, some music and I wont hear it.Very good I hope I can get the price I want. My dad knows the Sales manager and he owes my dad stuff so I just need to hope for the best

I can also get it Certified with bumper to bumper warranty 100k miles.

Another epic question that will live in infamy. Almost as good as the "what does rev-up mean".

C'mon man, there is a boatload of information on here to learn if you just take the time. People, PLEASE think before you ask a question. God didn't give you a brain just to fill the hole between your ears. You can actually use it for your benefit. I do not mind helping people learn what they want to if they are smart about what they ask, but this question is just silly.

tss, good luck with your potential purchase. I'm really not picking on you directly, just the general silliness of some of the things we're asked. I'm a noob too, but read a sh*tload on here about my car before I opened my mouth. Spend some time educating yourself about the G's, you'll learn a LOT. Most of us won't answer questions that drop our IQ a few points.

So Did the G35x have the "X" for 05?

Yes it did.
All the 'x' means is that its automagic and all wheel drive. I believe the 'Type S' are the rev-up versions.
Cheers and good luck with your puchase.

Woops I did not explain my self, I know the X means AWD, but I wanted to know on the back of the car were it says "G 35" below the right tail light. That if it was a G35x would it have the X under the tail light after the g35 in an 05 model. The Salesman said back in 05 they did not say it, I don't think he is correct.

Deeper and deeper. X = AWD, end of story. The X will come right after the 'G35' if that's what you're asking. S not equal rev-up, S = sport, but S badge not on 05. You want sport? Look for red shocks.

well if you read, I already knew X = AWD and S= Sport. I looked and there no red shocks. and I am asking if there will be an "X" after G 35 on the back of the car because the salesman told me that it does not have it. They are trying to sell me a G35x so I want to make sure its a G35x, well.. what other markings can tell me its a G35X? On a simple test drive I cant tell if its AWD and there's no markings outside.

It will have the X. Another giveaway is a little centre scoop in the front to cool the transfer case:

this one is NOT an X. See the difference?
