Tire Pressure Alert

Just curious to see if anyone (particularly those currently engulfed in the heatwave - so I guess that excludes you Canadian drivers, eh?) has had their tire pressure alert light come on recently? Mine came on, and I checked all 4 tires (and the spare), and they were each set to 35lbs.... however, the lgiht continues to stay on. could this be a heat related thing?

How good is your pressure gauge? I broke down and bought a calibrated guage from JEGS. Found out that the other gauges I had read low by as much as 7 psi.

Did you check the spare tire in the trunk?

mine does the same thing from time to time, but i haven't considered checking the spare which i'll do tonight. mine kept going off for a few weeks and each time i checked, i was around 35. it hasn't happened in a few weeks for me now.

I've never had any issues here in Houston, and our temps are regularly higher than the 'heat wave' ya'll are experiencing. 35 psi seems kind of low... is that the max your tires are rated for?

My tpms light also constantly goes on after 30+ minutes of driving. The pressure is not low for sure as I have been checking it everyday. Pressure stays at a constant 35psi. Car is an 05

thanks for the responses ya'll.... my model year is 2005.

I did check the spare, and it was flat. I added air, but that was a week ago.

according to the manual, the alert does NOT look at the spare. however, since i bought the car used, the spare (which is a full size spare) is a different brand than my current tires. the alert has gone on before, and after refilling one of the tires, the alert turned off. but now, it won't go away.

I'm wondering if one of the sensors broke/fried.... and where exactly is the sensor on the tire?

Iirc the spare does not have a tpms sensor. This shouldn't be a problem as I have not had a spare tire in my trunk for over 2 years

for alot of awd drivers, the spare does have a sensor. but it would not trigger anything. i have no tire pressure sensor on any of my wheels. the lights never came on at all. unless im driving about 100mph+ on a highway for about 1hr and 45minutes then the lights will go on and i pull over to the rest stop, check my pressure, it's all good, lights when off, drive again.

That is MAX pressure recommened for the tire, not the recommended operating pressure. Check your door jam and you will see the recommended tire pressure set by Infiniti. Mine shows 30psi for an 05 rwd. Now if you change your tires to a different size you can play around with the pressure (higher/lower) slightly. You never want to air your tires according to the MAX pressure on the tire sidewall.

Could be that a battery in one or more of the sensors has failed.
