Random Little Question Thread
chances are it has nothing to do with the octane or cats... crude oil contains sulfur - refining crude to gas can leave excess sulfur (but shouldn't)... if you smell rotten eggs, it's probably sulfur.
Try a different brand and see if the smell continues... or dont use that brand for a while and try in a few months and see if there is a change...
BTW, test pipes, high flow cats and OEM catalytic converters do not give off rotten egg smell... they give a burned oil/chemical kinda smell when they are new (hfc and tp) as do new after market exhausts... bad cats and used tp will smell like smog (exhaust fumes) but not rotten eggs...

Ok so I called my buddy for u and he said G35s run rich so pretty much every so often your gonna smell rotten eggs its the unburned fuel in your exhaust.he said carbon around the tip of the pipe is a sure sign ( only if u know ur tips polished because they all develop carbon)
^^^ carbon doesnt smell like rotten eggs, it smells like - well, exhaust/smog.
running rich smells like heavy exhaust/unburnt fuel (kinda like test pipes would smell)... I question the smell description of rotten eggs - its VERY distinctive and does not smell typical in automotive combustion.... if you ever drive by a refinery and are near sulfur unit (prilled is big mound of yellow substance) you'll know the smell of rotten eggs... if that's your smell, it is not rich a/f ratio.
Many of us have tuned ecu - I've run rich and lean (prior to a/f adjustment) - it never smelled like rotted eggs...
If you are running rich, you'll notice a definite loss in power and poor mpg... if you aren't all that familiar with the car its possible that you wouldn't perceive it... but there shouldn't be anything that would cause you to run rich.
*however, if there is too much sulfur in the gas you are running - the exhaust/carbon/whatever you want to call it will smell like rotten eggs...

I'm not positive, but I think I've seen a thread or post out here where someone has a gen 2 **** on 1st gen sedan... it would probably be hard to find in a search, but try in the "look what I made/installed" thread... if I come across it I'll post a link here.
how about you give us more details... like how much snow do you get and if they cost the same.
In the immortal words of some guy whom I forget in the second to last Dsport DVD " My butthole is sporty, it's still a four door". O6 G35 it is, however as mentioned above details please.
