I bought my pumpkin from a junkyard in CA and they shipped it for free (94lbs). Not sure about shipping to canada, I paid 250 for it, installed it myself, great mod

Hi guys,

I've been lurking here since getting my 06 G35x back in June, trying to read as much as I can. So far, this is one of the best cars I've ever had and I've had no real complaints.

However, this morning I noticed something was a little off. My boyfriend took the car out this earlier this morning as well, and he noticed it too. When driving through the city (30-40mph, random stoplights, occasional traffic), it seems to shudder a little when I take my foot off the accelerator, like it's losing power. I turned the radio all the way down, and I can sort of hear it revving unevenly. It accelerates fine, but I haven't taken it on the highway yet since this just started this morning. The car just hit 87,000 miles.

My thoughts:
The gas is at just about 1/4 tank. It's been over half for a couple weeks, since I've been filling it regularly. I filled it at Stop & Shop (Northeast US grocery chain - god knows what kind of gas they use, but I get a discount because we eat like piggies in my house.) last time, 93 octane as usual. I intend to head over to Mobil when I get out of work and fill it with the good stuff and see if that takes care of it.

Any thoughts on additives/fuel injector cleaners?

Also, the air filter is a little bit dirty. I have been meaning to change it for a while, but I'll definitely be doing that later on today as well. Any recommendations on brand or material?

I will be checking the plugs and wires either tonight or tomorrow as well.

If not one of the above, what else could be causing the loss in power?

Could be 06/07 transmission shudder. It's a well-documented issue, and there's a TSB for it. Looks like you are over the mileage limit of the 6 yr/70k powertrain warranty though. Maybe just buy the transmission valvebody and get an independent shop to install if the dealer won't cover it.

TSB here:

Or it could be "a single small jolt as the gears change from 1-2 and 2-3 is most likely transmission fluid and/or axle re-grease"

Thanks very much for the reply! I will make an appointment and have my mechanic check those things out. I guess transmission problems never crossed my mind because this car shifts like butter compared to my last car
