^ Working on a friends car, I noticed 2 of the plenum bolts were loose. I'm not just talking partially loose, you could lift them straight out, no further unthreading was needed. Surprised they stayed in their holes.

Hand tightening in the correct order will suffice. I have never used an in/lb torque wrench and I've only had one issue so far, snapped one of the engine cover bolts years ago.Originally Posted by Urbanengineer
It's not so much about breaking the plenum with a hand wrench, it's more along the lines that you need to tighten your plenum correctly to prevent air leaks or warping over the years.

Need no, can't do the valve bypass though if you have any sense.
It's copper TB heater bypass or valve bypass.

I think I should do more research since I have no idea what the bypasses areOriginally Posted by Urbanengineer

Hey guys. I stumbled across a 350z Track spec that is being wrecked locally.
I was thinking about picking a few parts from it as they are cheap cheap. One part that came to mind was the plenum. Now i know that changing the plenums on the non rev up does not help a whole lot but i thought i would ask any way.
Is there any real differences in the stock intake plenum on the 03 G35 and the 350z Track?
I did a google search but not a lot came up other than finding this wee quote:
"How did Nissan's boffins find an extra 15kW? The answer lies in improved induction efficiency via larger-diameter intake ducts and retuned valve timing."

Putting a rev-up plenum on a non-revup will do nothing for performance. The intake duct they're referring to has nothing to do with the plenum, and your engine doesn't have variable valve timing so that doesn't matter either. All you need is a MotorDyne plenum spacer.Originally Posted by andy_cliff

Can someone help me understand different brakes
I have 03 non brembo brakes, and im just wondering what slotted and drilled brakes are all about?
I see a lot of g's with bigger rotors and calipers, do most people do that for performance or looks?

Putting slotted and/or drilled brake rotors on stock-sized brakes = looks only. Arguably, may lower performance very slightly. Will lower life of standard brake pads (but not ceramic)Originally Posted by Ramanl

Larger brakes (slotted/drilled or not) increase in braking performance.
Really large brakes (i.e. Akebono) significant increase in braking performance, drilled/slotted rotors make a difference... but large heavy rotors add unsprung rotating mass (make less go-fast quickly) lighter rotors available, but are going to cost you plenty.

Drilled and slotted brakes help dissipate heat which helps with braking.Originally Posted by Ramanl
