I highly doubt there will be any sort of recall. More than likely, they will attribute this to normal wear and tear. I just doubt we'd get any sympathy for a light burning out on a 7 year old car. Truth is...it's an expensive part and we pretty much dont want to pay.

Soluton? Find the cheapest source of replacement LED's and get a group buy going. I'm sure we could sell 50+ of these

Cheap and easy its not. It's not your typical change the bad bulb that I'm used to. This is not up my alley and from the sounds of it there is no real solution other than taking it to the dealer and getting hosed.
I would just like my oem brake light to work like an oem brake light. I don't want to replace the led's with ebay parts if that's the problem anyway. All My led's work but it seems that there is some kind of lose connection because it only works half of the time.

I'm a little surprised there hasn't at least been a TSB.

If we don't hear something in the next couple months, I say everyone on the list should re-submit.

what you could do, and what I did, is just buy the OEM part from a dealer and install it yourself.
it costs almost $200 just for the part but at least you're not forced to pay the dealer to install it.

^ That's a rough price to fix this problem. I'm curious, is this all I would need or do they sell the LED only?

The brake light not working 100% is just a diode issue.

Yea, I found a site that sells different brand diodes, so I found one with a very high max temp and was going to buy it but I got lazy and let it sit. During the summer I am going to tackle it.

You can add me to your list as well. Mine was intermittent for the last few months and now doesn't work at all.

If we hit 50 and there's still no action, I think we should all re-submit on the same day.

Do any of you have the actual part number for the light?

Edit.

Found it
26590AC50A in case anyone else needs it

Dealer in Raleigh NC quoted me $341.98 for the part and for them to install would be an additional $140 and some change. What a ripoff.
Not to mention I'd have to drive 2+ hours just to get there.
