Transmission just started to slip and clunk into gear. Now a bit over 280k miles. Can't remember the code, but it's a solenoid which isn't sold separate from the valve body. So decided to pay a bit more for a used tranny with 67k miles and 5 year warranty for $1500.

Waiting for it to deliver to my mechanic. This would be the most expensive repair so far. At 280k, can't complain at all. Up to now, the car has been amazing. Nothing but standard wear and tear stuff at high mileage.

Good to hear.

I'm at 167K. Seems so little compared to yours.

What were you doing for trans maintainence up to the failure?

I did the drain and fill myself every 30K, but I would often do an extra drain and fill with an oil change just to be ****. However for that last couple years, I pretty much stuck to 30K intervals. The last couple times I noticed that the fluid wasn't as red as usual. Makes me think that I should have kept it at 20k intervals. Transmission was flawless until this one component failed.

Great stuff. I'm only at 57K on my '04 Coupe, but aside from a few minor issues & the occasional squeak/rattle, this car has been extremely solid over almost 11.5 years of ownership. I change the oil every 6-8 months or so w/synthetic (usually ends up only about 3K miles), have replaced the drive belts twice, have changed gear fluid twice, and the diff and clutch fluid once each. I tend to flush the brake fluid every 3 years or so. Clutch is still running strong @57K.

My only real issues over the years have all been minor:
- Axle click (fixed under warranty)
- Fuel filler neck and fuel level sensor replacement (warranty)
- Drivers side window motor (warranty)
- Driver seat rail replacement (warranty)
- Noisy fuel pressure regulator replaced
- Compression rod bushings replaced twice (both under warranty)

Due for another fluid change on diff and radiator which was very easy to do the first time. Couldn't be happier with this car!
This is awesome! I'm very happy with my new to me G35. This platform is very solid, reliable, and powerful. Props on the mileage. I plan to keep this car for a very long time as well so maybe someday I'll see that number!

Wow, you're doing pretty well for 280K miles!

My old G35 that I gave to my brother had 194K miles before it was rear-ended(total loss) by an inattentive driver. Car still had a lot of life left.

Saying good by to my 2006 G35 6 speed manual
Rather than spend a few thousand on brakes, drivers headlight ballast, and a leaking differential seal, I decided a new G37S was the way to go.
No more mileage bragging rights for me.

Telcoman

I'm waiting for a slew of issues to force my hand that way as well.

So far, can't justify it...yet....

I rolled over 200k last night. The car is running pretty good. I had to fix my 3rd brake light to pass inspection in January and I've got an intermittent evap code to deal with. But no major mechanical problems. I changed my valve cover gaskets and oil cooler gaskets a while back and seem to have the occasional burning oil smell in the cabin again so must have developed another leak. Probably didn't get the VC sealed well....

My mechanic swapped out the tranny with no issues. Runs perfect now. The rear struts were shot so I had them replaced while it was on the rack.
