2005-06 Rosewood console trim removal...

I tried to search this but came up with no definitive answer... There was one good thread regarding a 2007, which is obviously not the same.

Can this console trim be removed? If so, how? And what's underneath it?

what exactly do you mean.....

the wood trim is a faceplate for the radio. Its not glued, its REAL "solid" wood. Things are bolted to wood trim tho, like the metal shifter, radio, navi unit. Its not like a layer over the aluminum.

That's what I meant....was it a layer of wood on top of aluminum or silver plastic. I thought that it might be an applique because I can see silver around the CD loading slot....

I wanted to know because I'm close to pulling the trigger on a DD install & I wanted to get my finishes to match up. Guess I'll have to try to Dremel my wood faceplate like I saw one guy do it and hope I don't screw it up! Or replace the wood with aluminium....

Pretty much your only two options are what you stated. The silver you see is the radio itself, its behind the faceplate.

I have the wood and thought about the same.

You also have a 3rd option that i've done. Vinyl wrapping the whole trim pieces to a carbon fiber, aluminum that looks close to stock or any other color. I tested it with a 3m dinoc and it was decent. But now i actually like the wood.

If you want a quick idea of how the wood is, pull the door handles off, they pop right off and it will show u how thick that wood is.

Yeah... Vinyl wrap idea has merit, not to mention that it's likely a lot cheaper and easier to match. I know what you mean though - I have the wheat leather & the wood actually looks pretty nice.

I may just try to dremel the wood and if I screw it up, I'll just wrap everything!

i have STONE interior and i did that CF wrap.

Here i'll throw you a BONE...

My first time playing with this... it came out decent. But there was imprefections, mainly on my install. I pulled it off and I was going to redo in this winter in a piano black but the wood grew on me.

That CF wrap actually looks pretty sweet.

Why not try and source parts off Ebay? I was searching to replace a trim panel not too long ago and saw AL center console parts for not a bad price. The expensive ones were the Navi panels for obvious reasons

I've seen some of those Aluminum parts for the 05-06's on Ebay - they looked pretty beat up.

Hit or miss really. With these cars becoming work more in parts than whole sometimes, you miught be able to find someone parting out a car. Check the classifieds or keep an eye on Ebay for some decent parts.
