Can anybody explain why 350z with 300 hp can pull easily 1/4 mile in 12.7 with trap speed 106 mph and g35 06 6 mt. only 14.0?

Straight from the initial Car and Driver road test of the 287 hp 350Z

"0 to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds at 101 mph

2007 Nismo 350Z (306 HP) also from Car and Driver.

"At 5.2 seconds to 60 mph, the NISMO Z was no quicker than the last Z car we tested [“Four of a Kind,” June 2007], and its quarter-mile run—13.8 seconds at 103 mph"

2009 370Z (332 HP) according to Motor Trend

"
0 to 60 In 4.7 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.3 sec. at 105.7 MPH"

I don't know of any stock 350Z or 370Z that's cracked the 12s bone stock.

Possibly it was some tune made. But new cars are also different. Some are better than others. best stock i have seen was 2009 G37 13.09 at 106.9mph.
Sill even g35 with bolt ones cannot pull under 13 s without turbo or compressor but 350 without turbo with bolt ones can?

I know there's an FBO and tuned Maxima that was running 12.80s and that was years ago. And the owner was a pretty big guy too.

Sedan is lighter than coupe. Trap speed 108 is very good sign of performance. G37 stock trap speed was 109mph. It is possible to G35 only with bolt ons. But possibly 350Z, is faster with bolt ons and stock. I do not speak only about official reviews and tests. Of course weather factor speaks also a lot. chilly weather welcomes records.

The Zs have advantage in times for the DE/HR/VHR powered 350/370z and G35/G37 just because of weight difference. A G37 is not likely to trap 109mph 100% stock on a 1/4 mile track. It would take weight reduction and negative DA to get close to that. You dig thru 350z/370z forums, and youtube videos for fastest times and there are a few stock 370z and 350z HR that in low or even negative DA were down to 13.0 or even 12.9 stock, but that is not the norm. There have been 13sec stock DE 350z/G35 as well. But again that is a short list. People can debate stock or modded or whatever, but when you see the video and timeslip of passes you have proof of the times. There is a G37 sedan on youtube cammed/gutted/e85 that went 12.3, I dont know if you saw that. Again this is all on 1/4 mile track, not on portable timing apps or from phones mounted in the car. I am talking about passes made on the track.

not my video
