Just curious, but why are you going with the D51R? Are you looking for weight savings? If not, then the D35 would be a better choice due to higher CA's and CCA's.

Please instead of arguing, read Optima's website.
Not arguing, clarifying. I was only asking questions because I did not think to check the company website, this is pretty much the only website I get time to visit

In this picture of the d51r it looks like the post are near the back of the battery. If my memory serves me right aren't the stock battery posts in the front?

Correct. But I can't find them in stock and it's backordered. I'm going with the Red 35. 33lbs and plenty of power. I don't have a huge system

I found that since 1st-optima offers free shipping, it's actually cheaper than diversified.

No need for the option.

UGH! I don't know how many times I have to post the answer to this! I even took a picture of my battery. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A D35R! ONLY A D35!! The diagram above is helpful. Hopefully there will be no more confusion now that we have a diagram AND a real picture of a D35.

Just so you know, the D35R part number changed to D35YT some time back.
The D51 replaced the standard D35. You may be able to find a D51 if your lucky. There is a D51r or D51YT that replaces the old D35r or D35YT.

I would install the D35YT for many reasons that are positive.
The voltage gain is just wonderful. The D51 was designed for the goverment and oversea's work.
