Stillen HiFlow air box today!

Well... could not wait any longer to hear the results
of what intake is the best. Last Monday I called Stillen
and ordered the Hi Flow Air Box for $260. According to
FedEX is will be delivered to my office today. OH Boy!
Tonight is gonna be fun. I am going to attach it to my
350Z duct and go out and waste a bunch of gas. I'm
sure my gas mileage will be really crappy for the next few
weeks because I'm going to be listening to the engine
gulping air and roaring.

Congrats and welcome to the Z-Pipe Stillen club cato! You won't be disappointed. Believe it or not, gas mileage gets better too. Let us know how you like it.

Yeah; it feels like 15% better on gas mileage here. When I want to hear the roar, press fast from 1,200 rpm to 2,800 rpm. You'll have more fun now.

The feeling can be described (in auto mode) is a bubble building, and building, and building up, and then suddenly BLAM! The bubble bursts and Apollo is on it's way to the moon. But much faster

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

I am soooo Bummed! Got the call from shipping and recieving
yesterday about 30 minutes after I made the post. I rushed over
ang opened the box. WTF!!!!!!!! It was the HI FLOW Maxima
cone filter. GDit! Called up Stillen and the sales guy apologized.
When I had ordered it, we had talked about my previous Stillen
purchase of the Maxima rear sway bar. We talked about the
fact that my garage now has the G35 sitting next to the Charcoal
Gray 2000 Maxima. The garage does look great with both of
them in there. So this guy (idiot) then clicks on the Maxima
part. The invoice says: part $176.25 billed $260
total + shipping $275 WTF It does not even add up!
So he calls me back with a "Return Authorization number"
for FedEX. At least they will pay for the return.

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

Sorry to hear about the screw up.
I am looking to do the exact same mods. Let us know how it goes, especially install.
From what I understand, install should be pretty easy, even to the non-mechanically inclined?

cato, that sucks big time. What a way to deflate a person's excitement. Sorry you had to go though this. If I had a spare, I'd send you it.

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

Cato,

Good choice going with the Stillen and 350Z duct. I, like mbarrad am also a member of this club. Just to let you know, today at a light I was up against a 2001 Camaro SS. Turned, green, we both started and he floored, I floored, and I was dead even with him. SS is a 0-60 in 5.2 car and I even saw web sites that claim it's lower than that! I love my setup and as others have said here on this post, it roars! Sorry the product came in wrong. It's like the old Heinz katsup comercial, anticipation...

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

Can someone please tell me where I can get the 350z duct, how much, and exactly which part of the intake it is? Is it the mass air duct, or the cold air duct going out of the air box to the front of the hood? Thanks

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

It replaces the funny tube with the box on top if it. That
wierd box is a resonator. It connects between the intake
manifold and the bellows with the MAF. It's a very easy
install, about 10 minutes.

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

Stillen finally sent me the CAI. The install was not
as easy as I guessed. The first thing in the instructions
was to disconnect the MAS from the tube behind the
stock CAI. Well..... That plug looking type connection
does not seem to unplug, so I had to remove the two
screws holding the sensor in place and remove the entire
MAS. The screws are not phillips either, they have the star
indentations on the heads. Luckily I had a set of those
around. About one hour later, when reinstalling the MAS,
my tool with the star head fell down into the engine. ****
Took off most of the lower engine cover to retrieve it. NADA!
Stillen did not pre-drill any of the holes in their box. That
sucks also as I had to bum a larger bit from my neighbor.
Got it all togeather finally. Did the easy ECU reset. Took
it out for a test drive. There is a long stretch of road in a
buisness park behind my neighborhood,
Took off from a roll at 20 mph. HOLY CRAP! This thing flies!

The sound is (hate to use this word) AWESOME!
The Stillen CAI is connected to my 350Z duct. The music
those 2 parts make on WOT is just beautiful.
I could not be happier!
Now I'm thinking exhaust.

Re: Stillen HiFlow air box today!

does that high flow box do a lot? i want to combine it with my K&N typhoon to see if it will give me some gains. so far, with just the FAI, im getting extra 9 hp. anyone with intake experience know if adding the high flow box will perhaps give me more? anyone know where i can get one?
