Worn brake pads are not covered under warranty plain and simple. They are considered a "wear" item. If it is normal wear (22,000 miles is normal wear) than you are responsible. The only way they would be covered is if there is some sort of manufacturers defect, driving and using the brakes is not a defect.

It helps to know all your facts before you speak so confidently. You are correct that wear and tear items are not normally covered, but there was a special 36/36warranty coverage added to 2003-2004 non-brembo cars just like the poster said above. Many of us have taken advantage of this.
