Finished this weekend's project
So i finally got around to painting the stock rocker panels and rear bumper lip on my 2003 doggy door sedan. My stock color is desert platinum, and as many of you know, on the pre-05 non aero g35 sedans the bumpers have trim all the way around in Euro Trim Black. The same euro trim black is found on the air scoops in the front aero bumper.
I DIYed the project with a friend who has a lot of experience around bodyshops and auto paint. I gave him a bit of $$$ for the help, Plus he travelled over 100 miles to do this. He mixed the paint, and provide the necessary equipment.
So here is a list of everything I painted:
Stock Rear bumper lip
Stock Side sills
Euro Trim Black "air scoops" in the factory aero (nismo?) bumper (big thanks to the sedan headlight removal thread for getting me half way on the front bumper removal!)
Mud Guards
Clock finisher
Double din finisher
Center console
Everything above was prepped, painted desert platinum, and clear coated.
No HVLP gun was used for any of this just a regular airbrush, and it worked great because we were just painting thin areas that were like 5 inches tall.
the project took the better part of a day to paint and do the R&I on the front bumper and dash/center console. I am pretty happy with the results...
disclaimer: The drop is coming soon, i am still working out some offset issues before i can drop the car the way I want, but the drop will be done so don't tell me about my ugly wheel gap!
NOW FOR THE PICS!!! (mud guards still need drying time so pics with mud guards will follow later).

Finished Product
Sorry for the quality on some of these. The location was not the best for photos, lots of reflections and bad lighting on the car. They were taken in the semi-covered parking lot at my GF's apt complex. If you see any red in the paint it is just reflection from the exterior of the red apartment buildings.
