Noisy sunroof at speed
When we open our sunroof, there is a metal wind deflector that goes up at the front of the sunroof. The wind noise is tolerable with an open sunroof up to 60 or 65 mph. But I've definitely noticed a lot of noise when I get up to 80 mph, where I usually set my cruise. It's loud enough to cover my alternative rock music with the audio volume half way up the scale. In my 1997 MB E320, I routinely go that speed with minimal wind noise.
I've found that when going at 80 mph, I can reach up with my right hand and manually pull that wind deflector back down a half inch or so and get rid of the noise without increasing the wind to the back seats very much. My kids in the back say there a little bit of wind, sort of a gentle breeze when I pull that deflector down slightly, but enough to bother them at all.
Does anyone know if the deflector can be adjusted somehow to raise up a little less than the standard setting?
Anyone else bothered by this. Maybe my deflector is raising up more than in other G's.

Yes I've noticed the same thing about the noise and even at low speeds, 30mph is quite loud, so much so that we have to raise our conversation volume. I was sort of surprised because my Maxima was whisper quiet. They don't make a sunroof deflector yet, those always quiet things down, but it may take away from the overall look of the car if it's too big (if/when one is released).
I haven't tried doing as you did and pull down the built-in deflector, I'll try that and see if the noise goes away. I'll try that this morning and see the difference.
I'm a sunroof fanatic, I have it open all the time, even quite often in the winter. so a deflector may be necessary even if it slightly compromises looks.

I looked more closely at the built-in deflector that pops up with opening. I don't see a simple way to keep it from poping up all the way that would not interfere with closing the sunroof. But I think if that deflector could be removed and the top 1/2 inch of the deflector cut off and then reinstalled, it would be close to having the deflector not come up all the way. I'll ask my dealer's service dept about that.
