He wishes it was totalled because when they get done fixing it, it will be a POS. My S4 wasn't wrecked half that bad and it was never the same. The body lines never lined up like they sould have and I had a vibration at speeds over 70. I sold the car because I could not stand it anymore.
I doubt they will total it because they formula they use is, if it exceeds 75% of the value to replace to car to repair then it is a total. You will be close, pray.

My 95 M3 had similar looking damage after an accident a few years ago. It should have been totalled, but the insurance company underestimated the repair cost and had the body shop start.
They kept finding more bent parts and it ended up costing $18k to fix. Book value on the car at the time was about $20k. Because of all the repairs, I had to sell it for less than they spent fixing it. I bought a new M5 to help myself get over it.

No issues of any kind at the 1300 mile mark.
Brakes had a slight "pulsating" right when I got the car but it subsided after a couple hundred miles. Maybe they needed to seat a bit or there was some oxidation on the rotors.
I highly recommend this car. This is my third Nissan in a row and the wife has one in the garage.
This brand has been VERY reliable for me...
