Illuminated Kickplates
who cares where they're made just compare these to lexus ones you posted and look at the difference in quality and craftsmanship, the lexus seems like a silver illuminated plates was glued on top of the stock plates, while the infiniti looks nice and luxurious, with all silver and a well blended illumination strip.
And it is still plug'n'play just because you have to run the wire to the other side does not make it any less "plug'n'play"

Yes, different people have different views.
My opinion: I have looked at both the infiniti and lexus plates in person, and no doubt the lexus look more nice and charming: the whole crystal part will light up, with the 'lexus' logo with different reflection effect make it highlighted.
The infiniti one is indeed very fantastic too, it's really good. But when compared with lexus, many of my friends admit that lexus is better at interior design/built quality. Yup, no one would bother where the G35 parts is made in, the G35 is not built in Japan, so Taiwan built parts is OK. Lexus is made in Japan with nearly all parts made in Japan also, maybe that's why its built quality is higher.
It's quite hard to justify via words, just take a look and get a touch feeling on both parts you will know what I mean.

seriously ? why would you even bother comparing... to be quite honest with you not because mine are on their way or anything but the lexus ones look gaudy very gaudy actually, unlike the infiniti ones that are nice and subtle and just the "right touch" if i had to choose which design i like better i'd say infiniti ease of install ... maybe lexus. but i won't be installing those so i don't care ..
haha.
haha.
If during the G35's design, the illuminate plate is taken into consideration at that time, then it should not require you to put on them using a so weird way (running wires here to there, hiding them under carpet etc.). Obviously the design engineer did not think about the plate at the beginning, but two years later they discover many customer want it and this will bring Nissan some profit, then they bring out a workaround scheme.
This also explains why this parts did not exist years ago, but suddenly came out recently.

lexus thought of it from day one... okay ? perhaps infiniti had more important things to worry about ... ?
and answering to customer demands ? marketing 101.
I have to step in and correct Felix. I just installed mine today - and it took 30minutes and no real tools. The end result is VERY nicely done for kickplates.
Infiniti/Nissan did in fact plan on this accessory as evidenced by the install. When you pull up the rubber weather stripping on the body, there is a small section that is a different consistency and weight. This is where the power cord passes from the unit into the car. Had they not factored this accessory in, the weather stripping would be all the same weight. You can see it clearly in the pics earlier in this post. Also, the harnesses have enough room built in for the additional cord. This is NOT by accident.
And just because the control module/relay is on the passenger side, requiring a super easy cord thread, does not mean it was not planned. From a financial standpoint, why on earth would a manufacturer, who is in business to make money, pre-install the wiring and incur additional cost when maybe 5% of owners are willing to pay for this option???
My opinion is that, as with ALL automakers, it's not until the SECOND model year that accessories become available, even though designed in from the beginning. As a manufacturer myself, if i was budgeting accessories for each year, illuminated kick plates would not be high on my list. Simply due to the limited number of sales for this item. REMEMBER...we are enthusiasts. We are special. Look at the number of G's sold compared to the few that are on this and ohter forums.
So - the Lexus may have an intially easier install...but ours was not an afterthought.
Just my .02.
AND - they really do look great.

Just got back from my dealer and they said there aren't illuminated kickplates for the sedan just the coupe. What a bunch of morons. Why is it that people that work at car dealerships know next to nothing about cars? Especially sales people!
I took the car for the AV unit replacement..and asked the service advisor about the kickplates..and they said they can get it overnight and install for $399....Guys is this a good price ? thanks

From what it sounds like that would be like equivalent to approx $400/hr labor rate so I would say no not a good deal.
