so fedex delivered my kickplates today, i opened them up, and i loved the fit and finish of them, i'm excited to see how they'll look installed. BUT.......im worried about this installation lol. i wont be doing it today or tomorrow because i dont have time, but i'll probably give it a shot on sunday and try to have them done before my brad johnson-led (thank god romo is back for the next game) cowboys get spanked around by the giants. i read through the directions, and it seems like a bit much to me. i did go out to my car and quickly pop off some of the panels, so that shouldn't be too big of a problem, at least the fear of breaking those panels has gone away. but i dunno, in the directions the part where i plug the T harness into the car's BCM in the passenger footwell looked confusing. so for those of you that have installed these, i have a few questions.

1. do i have to disconnect the battery?
2. do i have to tape all those wires together with the urethane foam tape?
3. are all of the tie wraps necessary?
4. do i really have to pop off every panel that the directions tell me to? i feel like i wouldn't have to pop off the panel right under the glove box or that same panel on the driver side, and i also don't want to because my OEM footwell lighting is installed in that panel and i don't wanna **** it up.
5. are there any other steps i can skip in this installation?

thanks for any help.

1. No
2. Which wires are you reffering to?
3. No, just makes it neat.
4. You will should have to pop off the passanger side for sure to get to the BCM as its higher up and towards the engine bay, driver side under the steering panel you dont have to take out.(i also have the OEm footwell lighting and if they were installed right with a bit of wire to spare you should have no problems)
5.You can skip many steps like using the tapes and ties(though not recommended) also i skipped taking out the air duct panels on either side and passed the wire from the right of them, hope this helps.

G/L
P.S. give your self time you will need daylight to do this so start early and expect about an hour to two hours considering your first time and fear of trying it...

Looks great! PM'd Rick ready to buy.

What's the consensus on the rear kickplates? Leave originals cause they say Infiniti or install new ones?

ok i finished installing the kickplates JUST as it got dark outside. i found a way to get out of work around 4, so i figured i'd try to squeeze it in before it got dark. took me about 1.5-2 hours to install these. it should have been much quicker if it wasn't for the ridiculous connector that WOULD NOT COME OUT of the bcm box in the passenger footwell. it was a pain trying to get that plug out, but i eventually figured out how to push that little clip in and yank it out. i was scared of breaking something but i just used a screwdriver to push the clip in and yanked it out with my other hand. anyway, after that was done it pretty much smooth sailing. and if anyone is wondering, i ran the wire for the driver kickplate behind the steering column. i didnt use any tie wraps or any of the urethane foam tape they provide, but everything was clean and it looks great. thanks to everyone who gave me tips on the installation.

Kick Plates & Footwell Lighting

I bought and installed the kick plates a couple of weeks ago. They look great and add some more class to an already classy car.

A while back, I noticed that the footwells weren't lit. I thought that was odd for luxury car such as the G. So I bought a couple of neons to place up under the dash above the footwells, but I couldn't figure out how to wire them in to the door activated lighting. So when I installed the illuminated kickplates, I just tapped into it's harness for the footwell lighting. It looks great and adds a lot of class to the car.

I've also installed bright white LEDs throughout the car, much better than stock yellowish lighting.

Here's some pics....

I believe there's an OEM kit that you can get from the dealer that adds the footwell lighting. But it's ridiculously expensive. You did a great job! looks sweet!
