+1 I think this is key. You can't just go in and ask for them to just do that alone,

I bought my 2008 Japanese Skyline 350GT secondhand and the front door handle/switch trims were scratched pretty bad. The dealer replaced them free of charge. The steering wheel and shift **** were also a little scratched but they wouldn't replace them for free. I opted to trim them in carbon look film instead of buying new parts. It worked out a lot cheaper and looks good too. You can see it here. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/402861...port-sedan-4d/

I know I should have posted when it happened, but I had my entire steering wheel (with trim) replaced back when my car was under warranty. They also had no problem replacing my dashboard (as it was warping at the edges)! It's definitely possible to get it replaced, but most likely if you're not pushy (as others have stated) and obviously while you're still under warranty.

I have the Elite extended warranty, but apparently the peeling door and steering wheel trim are not covered by the extended warranty? That's what the dealership service advisor told me. I was aware of the trim issue for a while, but it wasn't bad enough when in-original warranty period to for me to remove the aftermarket wood trim I had on the doors. Now, it looks pretty hideous - and a part of my dashboard started to warp as well If the odds are against it being covered under warranty, I will try to paint the doorhandles myself with a color-matched paint from a 3M dashboard repair kit, and if the results are decent will tackle the steering wheel and the dash.

EDIT: Just noticed Treacherous' post about it not being covered under Elite extended warranty. His WA dealer is better than my NY one, as I haven't gotten much done via goodwill. Oh well... given that the same service advisor told me that my serpentine belt needed replacing (when I just replaced it with a new one a few weeks before), it just added to several other negative experiences when I was being upsold something I didn't need, or was told to pay for something covered by TSB - I am becoming increasingly disenchanted with this dealership. My experience with a NYC-based one was even worse. Despite me liking my G35x very much and plans to maintain it for as long as it makes financial sense by a trusted mechanic - I am planning to lease an SUV in 2013, and it won't be an Infiniti.

Purchased a pre owned 2008 and the steering wheel was peeling and trim scratched. It was replaced without question under warranty.

Some dealers will do this as a good will gesture, but outside of the original factory warranty, they are not obligated to. Most who have had success this way didn't just go in for that though. They typically had their car in for other (money making) services as well. Just goes to show though, that it never hurts to ask. Congrats on the freebee!

Jackie Cooper Imports (Certified Infiniti Dealership) in Tulsa=A holes.

"My drivers side seat warmer isn't working."
"Yes it is."
"No...it isn't. I can't feel any heat at all. My Altima SER would cook me."
"We used an infrared thermometer. It is operating within the acceptable temp range."
"Well that's real fancy, but the seat...is...not...getting...warm."
"Sorry."

"My headlight burned out."
"No. Your ballast burned out. You have to buy the entire headlight assembly. That will be $1200."
"Let me talk to a technician"
"I'm sure it's just your bulb. THAT will be $200." (technician)
Hours Later:
"Fixed up?"
"Yep. Just the bulb."
"Does the new bulb match the old bulb in color."
"We didn't check."
"This new bulb is 4300k. That is why it looks white. My other one is the stock Infiniti 6000K bulb. that is why it looks blue."
"Your bulbs must've been aftermarket."
"No. They were not. Pull any infiniti off of this lot in here and it's headlights will be light blue."
"That is the only bulb we have for your car."
"I do not care what you have HERE for my car. Get me a bulb that matches the stock bulb."
"That is a GS2 Bulb. It is the right bulb."
It is the right bulb but the wrong temperature."
"We will give you another white bulb to match the new one."
"I don't want white headlights. I want the high-end look the car came with when I bought it."
"All we can do is give you white ones."
The next day:
"Why is there a GS2 lightbulb box in my floorboard with a Mercedes emblem on it?"
"Ugh...those are the only bulbs we have."
"So they aren't the bulbs that are supposed to be in my car."
"We'll have to research that."

3 years...never resolved. Bought 8000K HID bulbs and had them installed elsewhere. I never take my car back there for anything. I'm just going to remove the trim pieces (steering wheel and door controls panel) myself and Plasti-dip them. I may not even remove them first. I haven't decided.

I'd suggest removing them first.

So this is going to be a friendly place. It appeared to me that the topic had somewhat evolved into a discussion about the impossiblity of getting satifactory service at a delership. I shared my frustration. I thought sharing is what message boards are about, but I just joined today.

Meh, don't mind me; this place is plenty friendly. I'm pretty much out to pasture anyways. Carry on.

This thread has been around for a while but I just had to respond to your post. I had a similar issue at my dealer on Long Island. Had my car there for an oil change. They told me that my right high beam was out and would need to have the bulb replaced to the tune of $300, that the whole headlight assembly needed to be removed to accomplish this. I challenged my adviser on this and he said "come here and show me".
After doing my own research, I learned that the bulb is NEVER the cause of a failed high beam, it is the ballast or more commonly the fuse in the IPDM.
I purchased the fuse for a few bucks, replaced it myself and my high beam worked fine.
$4 for what the dealer wanted $300. Is this gross stupidity or just flagrant deception?
I escalated it to Infiniti of America consumer affairs, made a claim (no money involved), and the Infiniti rep who called me asked me "what would you like me to do here?"
REALLY?? The dealer barely got a slap on the wrist, but more so I have lost my trust and credibility of Infiniti.
I LOVE my car and may try the dealer where I purchased the car (a bit further away than where I was going), but even then, I am on pins and needles.

This is service I would not expect from a Nissan dealer, a Kia dealer or a Hyundai dealer, let alone a "luxury" brand like Infiniti.

What a shame

Man I did the same thing. I contacted Infiniti about the headlight issue. I got a call back from the GM of the dealership within 30 minutes. I asked him the same question you had pretty much, "Are your techs and service advisors that hopelessly ill qualified, or am I just being blatantly deceived?" He also said he would research the issue and get back to me. I never heard from him again. My salesperson, God bless him, still calls and leaves me a message 1 to 2 times a year to see how I'm doing. Any successful salesperson makes follow up calls a habit, but still that is the only positive thing I have to say about my experience. By the time my clutch went out I had sworn off the dealership. I took it to my previous mechanic. Of course the clutch kit was a dealer only part. The same dealership told my mechanic there were only 55 6MT sedans built in 2007 (which has to be complete horse crap) and that they would have to piece together a kit from across the US. It took them 5 weeks to get my mechanic a clutch kit and parts were missing. He had the remanufacture parts at his friends machine shop. My car was in the shop 6 weeks for a clutch, and I believe it cost close to 2 grand. Smh. I have since found other stuff the dealership jerry rigged also. They had taped a stack of quarters together and rigged the clutch switch with it. When they fell off I had change in my floor board and my car wouldn't start. I had to call a mobile mechanic out to my job the figure that out. Which he quickly did and laughed his *** off. I've found missing bolts and coat hangers used to secure my exhaust system. It is to the point that I CANNOT go back to the dealership. I get SO mad when I think about all the BS that I still want to throw the service advisor through one of his office windows!
