Signed up for my warranty this morning. Got the 48mo/60K so I am covered until 2016 or 100k. For me, the peace of mind and the coverage for all the electronics was worth it.

I got my quote from Courtney at Scottsdale Infiniti, and wow, the prices are very reasonable. She was courteous, answered my questions, and better yet, the email said there are "additional discounts" if paid in full. Of course I wouldn't finance $1700 to cover the warranty cost, so I wonder what the additional discount would be. Regardless of any discounts, I'm quite pleased with the quote, and I'll purchase the warranty in a few weeks, before my 40k.

IIRC, she'll reduce it by another $20 if you pay all at once.

Don't forget to add the cost of an inspection to your overall out-of-pocket cost. Dealerships vary on the charge to do the inspection. I contacted 5 dealerships in my area and got the following quotes for the inspection: 150, 160, 170, 300, and the last refused to do it if I didn't buy from them. Labor prices are really high here, so YMMV.

Thumbs up

Good deal. I believe she did mention that dealers perform an inspection whenever the car's taken in for service, even if it's an oil change, at no additional charge. I'll have to take it in in 2 weeks, so I'll ask then. If not, i'll just pay out of pocket. Thanks for all the help!

This is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!. I spoke with Scottsdale Infinti and they cannot sell a policy in the State of Florida any more. In addition she confirmed that if you live in Florida, the premium is fixed by State Law and all Florida dealerships charge the same premium. This all started awhile ago, as the Florida dealerships were getting super annoyed of losing warranties to Scottsdale Infiniti as well as other out of state dealerships. Now Scottsdale is prohibited to sell in the State of Florida. It will even say on Scottsdale's website with regards to the Elite Policy (Exluding Flroida Residents). If a Florida owner wants to try to save some money on another out of state Elite warranty, they can still give it a try, but I was told that there have been some instances of denied claims do to Florida regulation. Today, I just took out a 3 year 36,000 Infiniti Elite Zero deductable with 49,650 miles on my 2004 for $2,020+Tax. In addition they have a new program which includes free service oil changes and tire rotations for one year. There is nothing on our cars that cost less than $600+ to repair. I just changed the CD player last week and a lower control arm. Would have been big bucks!

This thread is funny.... My extended warranty cost me only 1450 and I was given 6 additional years or when 60k additional miles. My car is a 2004. I bought it in February of 2008 with only 27k on the odometer. My car's OEM warranty expired in August in 2008. My extended warranty has covered me about 4k in mechanical repairs. My car has only been serviced at Riverside and OC Infiniti and you can call and Confirm with Tony and James at OC to verify. I can honestly say that I bought my car at Carmax and my Maxcare warranty has always covered me and has been very easy to deal with. The dealer has acknowledged and accepted my warranty company freely as they know there will not be any hiccups. My Maxcare was the best Extended warranty that I have bought for my car and my wallet. So to anyone who is one the fence. Get a Warranty, If you can afford the Elite through Infiniti, do it! Unfortunately Carmax will not sell the warranty after you buy one of their vehicles, but I still recommend them when purchasing.

I got 50k left on my elite... best thing ever with all the problems I had... catalytic converter, compressors....etc.

Only wish it went beyond 100k... mine was for 7yrs or 100k total. They didn't give me an option for more mileage.

Hey guys, i just bought a 08 journey today with premium package 30K miles -- woohoo! I picked up a 3rd party extended warranty for $1871 -- it's for 6 years, 100K, 0 deductible. Seems pretty comprehensive (covers pretty much everything except wear and tear items) and offered by Western General/Protective. It's the Select plan here - http://www.protectiveassetprotection...omotive_Select

I still have another 8-9 months of factory warranty left till Jan 2013. What do you guys think -- should I keep this warranty or cancel?

I caught this line in the brochure your link went to.

* A complete list of exclusions appears in the vehicle service contract.

I think a full read of this is necessary to determine the warranty's value. They all look good at face value.
