07 Sedan Trunk Wont Lock

So I have tried searching for anyone who had this problem to no avail. I cannot secure my trunk. The latch will not lock when the trunk is closed. Interior switches work, Im getting power and the fob activates the lock. Its almost as if the upper latch is too short to reach the lower striker latch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Take the trunk lid opener switch off and inspect it for proper operation, it's probably broken.

I push it and it unlocks the trunk, so its working. Is there something specific I should be looking for with it?

Ohhh I misread what the problem is, so the trunk latches just fine but won't actually LOCK?

I have the same problem. It occurred when my battery died while replacing a rear tail light ballast. The trunk was still open when the battery died. I don’t know how to fix it. I just hope this comment helps

Doesn't hurt to check whether the wires in your trunk harness relay are all intact. The wires can be frayed with time & use and you can lose partial function of locking your trunk depending on which wire has been completely cut. I spliced several wires in my existing relay several times, and then just replaced the entire thing. My issue started with the trunk only opening with the key fob or in-cabin switch (but not when pushing the rear trunk button), and eventually progressed to trunk not latching at all.

Trunk will not lock if the key fob is in the car. If you have more than one, make sure they both are out of the car. My wife had dropped the key fob between the seat and center console, drove me insane on why I couldn't lock the trunk when I had the extra Key fob in my hand.
