I check my level in this fashion. It's not a big deal. Drive home from work. Come back in 20 min after pooping. Check the level. Done

If your oil color is darker than your poop then its time for a change.

Was checking the manual for a newer Infiniti and saw the wording and the "more than 15 minutes" caught my attention. Turns out Infiniti/Nissan has used the same wording for 10+ years and the key part is "more than". Yeah, 20 minutes is more than but an hour is okay too. So is 10 hours.

Here, shortened it for them.

1. Ensure engine has been off more than 15 minutes.
2. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
Reinsert it all the way, remove and observe oil level.

A whole bunch of fluff to make it sound official and professional, anything but the simple task that it actually is.

Actually better to check it in the morning. 15 minutes isnt gonna make a difference.
