Coolant in transmission.
Coolant in transmission.
Does anyone know if the 08 G35 auto has the issue with the coolant mixing with the transmission fluid? I hear it’s a big issue with other Nissans with the RE5R05A Transmission.

That happens when your ATF loop / cooler built into the radiator leaks internally. Then the 2 fluids get mixed or shared. I have 2x V35 cars and 1x V36 and haven't had that issue yet but have read about the problem in transmission service bulletins. It would be nice to know what model / years of these radiators are affected by this problem.
I know it is very common with the older Pathfinders and Xterras. Good to know that you didn’t have the issue. I believe the transmission cooler on the G is a different design so it doesn’t seem to be as common on them.
The Nissan's had a problem from 05-10 or something like that. Like many things, Nissan failed to recognize it. You can bypass the radiator and add a separate cooler for transmission. It's the one thing I actually fear. No matter how good you treat the car, it's hard to prevent something catastrophic like that
I thought the G sedans already had a auxiliary tranny cooler? down in the right front lower grill area, i am pretty sure mine does, all though my car is an X. Because it certainly won't be a power steering cooler, would it?
It may. It's been forever since I've had my bumper off but I thought I read that only certain markets had the aux transmission cooler for the DE engines at least

That's the power steering cooler on the front passenger core support. If you delete the internal cooler (the radiator/trans setup) and use an external you will have cold transmission fluid in the winter for a lot longer warm up cycle. The radiator actually warms up the trans in the cold. I would be real careful doing that if you live in a cold climate area and don't let it warm up for a lot longer period or you may wear the AT clutches faster. The trans does have a internal temp sensor and boosts the line pressure in cold conditions but I wouldn't push it until it's at operating temp.

Yes, the manual transmission cars don't have the ATF cooler loop inside of the radiator. I've see a few people buy a radiator not thinking about transmission type and get one that won't work with an auto trans since there is no cooler built into most manual trans radiators.
