Help me find out where water is coming from

So I have a 2008 sedan and when it rains hard my passenger floor board get soaked with water. I can feel where it’s dripping from and it’s to the back right of the glove box. Has any one experienced this and if so where was the cause of your leak
thanks in advance for the help

Either your cowl drain is plugged, or your battery box drain is plugged, or your primary electrical harness penetration is leaking.

Remove the glove box, remove the cabin air filter, find where it's leaking.

Dont forget to check your sunroof drain lines for clogs

This is absolutely the sunroof drain line. The end gets plugged with dirt and debris. I highly recommend getting this fixed ASAP! I had this same issue 2 years ago, only the water got onto the BCM and wire harness connectors on the passenger side and started arcing. My car would not turn off and all lights came on. Luckily the dealer was able to fix it as well as dry everything out and it's been all good since, but it was around $620.

While this IS something you can do yourself, getting to the sunroof drain hose can be a real PITA. Either way, good luck!

Good evening all,

I have the exact same issue (water in passenger floorboard). Kaj Hunsbedt...were you able to get your drain line cleared?

It's dark outside now so I can't see much. Is the inlet drain at the sunroof difficult to get too? Wondering if I take some compressed air and blow through the line if that will help?

Thank you in advance!

Stiff fishing line would be a better choice. It's a small tube, which is why it has a tendency to stop up. You have to be careful not to dislodge the tube at the sunroof connection. Remember, it's old and now stiff...pliability at the connection left a long time ago. Now it's staying on out of habit.

Do a google search in the forum; there are a lot of threads on this subject.

Thanks G2B35AGN! I'll try the fishing line as well as check the cowl pan and battery tray as mentioned in some other posts. The strange thing is that there is water draining under the car (no odor) but there is still water that drains onto the floorboard from somewhere. In addition, there's no sitting water inside the sunroof channel. My only thought is we had quite a bit of sleet this past weekend but it has long been melted (got up to 78 degrees yesterday)!
