ABS, VDC Off and SLIP lights on
ABS, VDC Off and SLIP lights on
Hey guys,
I have a stock 2004 G35 with sport package. I got an oil change done from jiffy lube and then a day later I noticed some strange behavior. When I start up the car and drive everything on the dash is clear. If I lightly press on the brake pedal things are still fine but when I press a little firmly on the pedal to say stop at a traffic light, the ABS + VDC + SLIP lights all come on. When I turn off the car, the lights go away until I press on the brake pedal again.
I used an OBDII scanner and got the ECU code P1805. Doing a little bit of research online it seems like this code points to the brake switch. I looked into the owners manual that I have but didn't see anything about a brake switch in there. Has anyone else had this problem? If so any pointers for resolution?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

I checked the fluid level it's a little less than at the Max marker. I thought that wouldn't be the cause but I'll try top it off. I checked fuse box all fuses look good. I changed my pads and rotors last year. The pads are in good shape and I don't think the thickness of the rotors has reduced much specially since I haven't driven the car much.
Interesting... So for you it was your breaks... I was looking at my brakes and the outter ones seems fine... I guess I'll have to pull off the tires and check the inner ones. I am just surprised since I got brakes and rotors done last year May and I've barely driven the car at all. Maybe a total of 6K miles.
I might want to check my lights like one of the guys wrote on your thread. Thanks for pointing me to your thread djfarhan

Hey Mike,
I did what you asked and guess what, the lights aren't coming on at all. So I figured maybe a bad brake light switch since that's what the code P1805 seems to indicate but no change. The lights are still not coming on. Any ideas on what to do next?

ok I pulled out the stop lamp fuse and yup it was blown. I replaced the fuse so now the brake lights are coming on when I hit the brakes, however, the spoiler led it not coming on. Any suggestions?
Do a search about trunk wiring....
The lines going up that rubber tube from the trunk, to the trunk lid get streched & break in there....I would open that up & take a look...
Does your remote open the trunk?
Is the spoiler factory?

so in 8 hours I have gone through about 4 stop lamp fuses. Something is blowing the fuse really quick.
Mike - the trunk opens using the remote so that is working fine and the spoiler is factory.
I remember while driving I could feel drops of water fall on my foot by the clutch but I am not sure where this came from. It was pretty hot outside and I had the AC going but I don't think it would cause condensation and water to drops to form unless I am wrong.

I would start out by replacing ( or inspecting ) all the stop lights in the tail lights.
2nd I would remove the pressboard black trunk finisher & inspect the wiring to the 3rd brake light...
Finally I would remove the tube boot between body & trunk & have a looksie

I know the stop lights work because when I put a new fuse in, the brake lights come on but the only thing that doesn't come on is the 3rd brake light integrated in the spoiler. I am not sure how to remove the flap at the bottom of the light to test if there is current flowing to the 3rd light. Sorry if this is a newbie question but how do I remove this so I can access the light?
I am hoping I don't have to go as far as the tube boot
. I wonder if the 3rd light is out or not so I want to remove it... Any idea how we can test it
