ECU and Stillen Intake... Please help!!
ECU and Stillen Intake... Please help!!
Ok, I've been reading several posts regarding intakes (Injen and Stillen) and am not too happy with the possibility of the engine stalling while doing 80 mph. I know a few of you have said that the oxygen sensor may be causing the problem because it is calibrated specifically for the stock intake. Do you think that the TechnoSquare ECU will solve this problem? Also, is this ECU 100% compatible with the Stillen intake? I'm really interested in adding an intake but do not want to take any chances of my G stalling on the highway! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Re: ECU and Stillen Intake... Please help!!
The only time the engine stalled on the highway was when the person put it in neutral. How often do you put your car in neutral on the highway?

are you sure about that? I don't remember that being the case, but I may be wrong. I hope that you're right because I'd rather not spend $550 for a new ecu.
Re: ECU and Stillen Intake... Please help!!
People don't put in neutral that often. Now that I'm able to recreate the problem, it took only 3 seconds for it to stall. I can't do it all the time, but it happens. Oh well.

Yeah it is the same thing that the injen was having a problem with in the beginning.... 6mt drivers putting the car into neutral whild driving at 80+ and the tachometer would just drop and the car would stall! It is though now to possibly not be a problem with the intakes, but the actual model of the car, production time wise.... people on this site are looking into it, we will have to see what they come up with!
But no it shouldn't be a problem... and if ou do get the ecu tell them the mods you have, for they can retune yours for those mods!

Re: ECU and Stillen Intake... Please help!!
It's is near impossible to stall any FI car while giving it any throttle (ie driving at 80mph). The only time you have to worry is if you put it in neutral at 80, which is not necessary, and not normal. You would notice that even if you were to throw your stock (no intake) 6mt into neutral at 80 mph, your rpm's would drop below what they normally would at idle.

hmm....not sure about that sonic, i will try it
there is nothing wrong with putting in neutral (6mt) while going 80...what if you are low on gas and want to coast down to 55

Or what if you are going 120 and see a cop or a truck ahead and put it in neutral and slam on the brakes......
My car also stalled once at 60 when I put it in neutral. The RPMs are not stable at all.....even at about 40...they drop pretty low......this is not normal. My previous cars with intakes never had this problem. I will take Stillen's advice and reinstall the intake, reset the ECU, and then drive for a week or two. Hopefully it works out.
