That is definitely an option for those wanted to do it. I just having the tip flush up against the muffler. The tips currently sit a fraction of an inch past the bumper cover. Since they're so much larger, they're very noticable from most any view angle now. The stock tips get lost at certain views. The tips look freaking huge when they're off the car, but once mounted, they're the ideal size. I think they're even larger in diameter than the tips on my old Borla TD.

are 05-06 G tips different than 03-04?

The cuts have to be straight through because the muffler pipes on the G are 2.5" whereas the pipes on the Altima are a mere 1.5".

The 05/06s have longer muffler cans than the 03/04s therefore the tips on the 05/06 cars will be pushed out an additional inch or so. If the Altima tips stick out too far for your liking, you could cut the Altima tips to your liking.

There are two versions of this part available, one for the 2.5L and one for the 3.5L V6. Same outside dimensions, same price. Since the Altima 3.5 and the G35 have the same engine, I'm going out on a limb here to say the tips for the 3.5 should be closer to our exhaust pipe diameter, and therefore require less modification. I've purchased a set of theses from EverythingNissan, however they have to order them which take 3-5 days to get in. I'll let you know how it works out when they get in.

I doubt this would work, but i was just on the road and saw the tips on an 07 or 08 G sedan. The tips were good sized, but were ovalish, so just another possibility.

Those look a lot like the Borla tips.
